Nightfeeding & offering water

My DS is ebf & 6 months old. I normally put him to bed between 7&9pm depending on his naps for the day and he gets up between 5&7am. He wakes a few times in the middle of sleep and I give him the dummy back that he spat out in his cot bed. Then he normally goes back to sleep but around 5am, he occasionally keeps making noises so I just get up and feed him. I wonder if I'm doing right by offering him the dummy. Should I just feed him whenever he wakes up in the middle of sleep? Being a first time mum, I find this very tricky as I'm not 100% sure if he's hungry. I just guess he's hungry when he doesn't seem to want to get back to sleep even after he has his dummy back.

Also I started giving him some water (Brita filtered) using his weaning spoon (3 spoons) so that he can start getting used to the taste. Am I doing alright?

If he’s 6 months old he can have a cup of water with meals. I wouldn’t give water at night.
But yes to feeding in the night, I fed on demand. Milk isn’t just for hunger, it’s thirst and comfort.

Okay I'll give him water in his cup during daytime, thanks for your comment Megan. I'm going to start feeding him on demand from now on as I only thought about hunger not thirst & comfort - ignorant me!
