Toddler won't eat wet food?

Has anyone had experience of this? My 2 yo won't eat anything wet like soup, yoghurt or dips, no milk in cereal, not even chocolate sauce ? And no cold food like ice cream or lollies.

Is this linked to having sensory processing difficulties?

It might be, but my 3 year old is the same. He eats dry crackers/cereal/bread; fruit and vegetables but no sauce at all and no yoghurt or soup. I don’t think he has any sensory processing issues.

Does yours have any other traits that might make you suspect sensory processing disorders?

I’m just trying to think and I only give him a little sauce with things like bolognese/curry/meatballs and stir it all up really well with his rice or pasta or he won’t touch that either.

This is my boy too - no issues. He just prefers dry food. He will have a yogurt though.

My 2year old is the same, but it's because she doesn't like using a spoon - the only thing she'll eat with a spoon is yogurt, otherwise it's fingers only!

My husband is very much like this. He's very particular about wet foods. Also has issues with food touching others. No sensory processing disorder.

My toddler was like that. He wouldn't eat wet food at all. He is august although we didn't know that at the time. I suspect some people who don't like wet food will be NT and some ND. If there aren't any other issues I wouldn't worry

Autistic not august Hmm

I asked because I know of autistic children with sensory differences including certain textures of food they avoid

Mine is 5 now and he won't eat a lot of 'crunchy' things. So the crunchy pasta in a pasta bake, the ends of sausages, the small chips, pizza crusts etc.

I think most kids are just weird and will go through phases of what they will and won't eat.

DS is 6 now and went super fussy when he was about 10 months. I was sieving spaghetti hoops for a long time but he’ll have the juice on his plate now (as long as it doesn’t touch anything else)
He won’t eat soup, beans, fruit or veg. He does have milk on his cereal now though.
Just got him a nutrition/dietitian who advised to keep serving but in a separate dish. Even if they don’t eat it, they know that they can. Don’t make a fuss or overly praise (of which I did both) Also a tiny taste at non-meal times might encourage trying at meals. That was the advice, I can’t say it’s working for us yet though.
