Yoyo buggy

Can someone fill me in about what's so good about the Yoyo buggy?!

I've only noticed them more since having DD who's 6 months old but they seem to be everywhere! They look so flimsy and so low, it looks like it's a toy buggy rather than a buggy for a child. I can see how lightweight it must be but I googled the price of the buggies and they're not cheap either!
I'm so confused lol.

If you have a Yoyo buggy could you say what's so good about it and why it seems to be so popular?

Bump😂 I just realised there's a Pushchair section, maybe I should have posted this there!

It's because they are so lightweight and fold up small/easy to carry. They can also fit into overhead lockers on planes.

I love mine, although do agree that when it's set up as the bassinet for 0 to 6 it does look a bit mini! I got it for travel as it fits in the overhead cabin but ended up using it as my main stroller - it fits everywhere, I can open and close one-handed, takes up no room in the car and manages fine on difficult terrain (like cobblestones etc).

Ah right I did think that it was so popular because of how lightweight it looks.
However doesn't it bother people how low the buggy is? It really does look like a play buggy especially when used with the carrycot!

There's lots in London, it's an ideal pushchair for life here. I didn't get it when I had my first, as it was pretty new then but I'd definitely get it if I was doing it all again. I really like lightweight pushchairs. I'm always perplexed when people have the Vista and the Chameleon in cities, they seem so bulky.

videovixen · 17/11/2021 18:02

Yeah I'm in South London and I've been noticing it everywhere. I personally love the chunky buggies😂 I have a big Kinderkraft one and don't find it difficult with being in the city. I'm expecting again and will definitely be looking for something semi lightweight as pushing two kids at the same time sounds like hell.

I would defo move on to a lightweight buggy during the toddler years!

We’ve just bought a yo-yo, due in Feb because it’s pretty much the only one that fits nicely in the i10’s boot! Glad to hear the good reviews because I am a bit worried about flimsiness, my husband looked like he was pushing a toy when we tried it out in store 😂

Caspianberg · 17/11/2021 18:16

We have a yo-yo ( and a giant mountain buggy)

The yo-yo is just practical. I can carry on arm like bag and carry Ds in other when I need to go down our steps to house. It fits in footwell of car when I need boot empty for shopping or luggage . It’s small to just fold out the way in cafe. Took on flight recently. Great at airport.

We only used 6+ mode so no carrycot. And we do use our mountain buggy day to day main as we live remote and non pathed so local walks the yo-yo would be rubbish. But in the city I wouldn’t bother with a second pram.

Caspianberg · 17/11/2021 18:17

And the basket is actually quiet big. The hood has large back pocket also. The basket is better than our mountain buggy tbh

IrishMamaMia · 17/11/2021 19:07

Well there are definitely plus sides with a big pushchair too @videovixen The carry cots nice suspension and big baskets are handy. I just always seem to need something small and narrow for public transport, that I can fold and open in a hurry and park easily in a café.
My friend had a baby at the same time as me and has had the yoyo as her only pushchair with two kids!

Jujujuly · 17/11/2021 19:12

I think the yoyo was pretty groundbreaking when it came out, but there are lots of others now which are similarly light and can fit in hand luggage etc, but are much cheaper. I wanted a nifty city pram, also in London and don’t drive, but it was just too flimsy for me. We have the bugaboo bee and it’s that bit sturdier while still being light and nippy.

Dalooah · 17/11/2021 19:23

Had mine 5 years now and it's still going strong with DC 2. We don't live in London but used to travel a fair bit and it's so convenient that it takes all of 30 seconds to get open and get child in. I was never envious of the parents who spent 7/8 mins assembling a travel system 🤷‍♀️. Both DCs have been perfectly comfortable- if only slightly too low in the bassinet/carry cot but the ease of use certainly made up for its 'size'.

BirdIsland · 17/11/2021 19:33

I love my yoyo - super lightweight, folds up really small, folds down easily and it's easy to take apart to wash. I also love the big pocket on the back of the hood, it fits all of my crap in when I'm out and about.

We did use the bassinet and it did look tiny compared to some of the absolute tanks out there, but it was actually quite roomy for DD and she always slept really well - we got loads of compliments on it too, at the time there were very few yo-yos about.

I would say it's a bit rubbish on cobblestones, I live somewhere very cobbly and don't even attempt some streets with it 😂

KitKatKit · 17/11/2021 19:42

I have a YoYo and used it from birth. I chose it over other prams because I didn't want a tank of a pram that was bulky to store indoors or in the boot. It's the best decision I ever made, for all the reasons listed by previous posters. It feels secure and sturdy to me.

I hate the snobbery of some posters on here, harping on and on about their "Rolls Royce", top of the range, 4 figure, PRAMS! Like dudes, it's literally just a pushchair, that will go into landfill eventually 🤦🏽‍♀️

videovixen · 18/11/2021 01:43

Haha yeah I see what you mean about about the Travel System, it can be a bit fiddly at times. I see what everyone's saying about it being lightweight and easy to fold and so on. I can defo see the benefits of that even if it does look a little flimsy to me!

I no longer use mine as my ds 2.5 can escape from the harness but other than that, it's been great as we've had it since birth. It can travel everywhere easily, doesn't take up space in the boot or home, can fit through tiny aisles in shops and restaurants. I've generally been happy with it. Now we have a silver cross pop which does the job.

sjxoxo · 18/11/2021 02:33

@videovixen what kinderkraft model do you have? I have one, not used yet! How was it xo

It definitely makes sense with regards to car space and so on so I get it! Ffs 4 figures on a buggy😭 mine cos 295 and I'm still here thinking that's a lot😂

@sjxoxo I have the Kinderkraft Moov. I love it personally as I love the chunky buggies with the big wheels. Really easy to navigate and so on. Which one have you purchased?
