Infant dyschezia

Hi mums,

Looking for some advice from anyone that's been through similar. Basically my little girl won't poo on her own. She's not constipated, poo is normal consistency or a bit looser, but she will only poo when her nappy is off and I lift her legs up into a squat position, even then it can take a while to happen. I've tried leaving her a couple of days but she gets really uncomfortable and upset and so it's back to me hoding up her legs and a whole load will eventually come out.
She did poo on her own for the first two weeks, but she's six weeks now so it's been about a month. Hv doesn't seem too concern because she is going. I came across the term infant dyschezia where their wee bodies are trying to co ordinate bearing down and relaxing their wee bums to poo, it does say it will eventually resolve but as each week passes I'm getting more concerned. I'm worried that I shouldn't lift her legs up incase I am delaying her getting the hang of it although some sites say that it's OK to do so. I've never used a windi or anything manual like a cotton bud or thermometer to get her to go, I don't want to go down that road.
Has anyone else went through this? I hate seeing her upset because she can't poop when she needs to. 😢

Have you ruled out CMPA? x

No It hadn't crossed my mind, she doesn't seem to have any of the symptoms. Could it cause this? Anything I've read seems to say it's developmental rather than the milk itself but I'm open to any suggestions to try xx

There is no harm in changing a few things - if exclusively breastfed then you cut out all dairy and soya, if formula fed then try the same brand comfort milk (it’s easier to digest). If it won’t work it won’t make it worse x

Thank you, formula feeding so will try the comfort formula and see if that helps.
