How are you putting little one to nap during the day?

My DS is 4 months old and although an independent baby, he's recently started preferring his naps on me and wakes when I put him down. I'm curious to know how you are putting your little ones to nap in the day?

Oh and yes we are going through the dreaded sleep regression but I'm not entirely sure it's that.

I'd be interested in this post as I struggle with this too!

Mine is 3 months and naps so well in the sling so I tend to use that most the time. Any other method and she won't sleep for long

Mine would rarely nap in their cot. I would take them for a walk round the block in the pram/pushchair to get them to drop off and then they'd stay asleep in it once we got home. Not always ideal if pouring with rain but it worked!

And white noise, always white noise

All my children napped in the pram/buggy until at least 10 months old. If we weren't out, I'd rock them. I then started putting them in their cot.

White noise, Snoozeshade over buggy and rock until asleep. Means you can replicate nap time wherever you happen and thus not be tied to the house. Not sure how it works with older toddlers as DD1 started dropping her last nap at 18 months, but it was the method of choice until then.

With mine we had 2 types of nap after 4 months.

  1. in the pram in the morning. Usually on our way somewhere.

  2. afternoon nap in their cot. I'd take them up at the same time each day, close the curtains and put them in their cot. Then I'd sit next to them holding their hand. At first it took ages for them to fall asleep but eventually they did. Then gradually over the next few weeks I'd more further and further away from them and they'd fall asleep quicker. Eventually they fell asleep as soon as I put them down.

Both mine have been cot/ Moses basket sleepers but found putting them in awake helped so they didn't go from being warm on me to the cold sheet. Noise and a comforter helped ds2 had a dummy to sleep. Not sure if any help but hope some different ideas.

Mine had all naps on me until about 11 months ish then suddenly decided they were happy to go in the cot.

13 months and for the past 6 months she goes in buggy with window open in conservatory. Dummy in, cuddly toy, blanket. Doesnt get disturbed by rest of the house there and can have fresh air without being cold. It's at 11am just after a bottle, so she's full. She lasts about 2 hours.

Both mine have been in the pushchair from quite early on. It means we don't have to be home for them to nap (in the cot for example) and can nap out and about/at someone else's house and when they are looked after by my mum they can have the same environment.
