Although I should of course be celebrating the fact that my genius 21 month old DD2 is dry both day and night (!!!) I am sooooo sad to have to pack away all my nappies!

Please tell me it gets better.

I suppose I could hang on to them for when incontinence kicks in through lack of pelvic floor exercises....

If you want i can post you mine to do - will even christmas wrap them

laundrylover · 13/12/2007 09:58

loler.

You know I am sitting looking at the lovely sunshine in a wistful fashion! At least I've got some jeans to peg out but it's just not the same!!

I know what you mean laundry lover. I still very sadly wish for those buckets of nappies to wash and then peg on the line.

Have asked DP for new baby for Christmas, but DP says NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I saw this thread title and knew it would be you LL.

No sympathy here - you either wash mine, or have another baby.

(Actually, you do have my sympathy, I love washing nappies too, and watching them dry on the line, but in winter they dry on the radiators and its not the same )

Due to your DD2's inspiring achievement we have put pants on DS constantly yesterday and today, and he has weed in every single pair. As soon as I took them off to put a bed time nappy on, he trotted off to the pot and sat down for a wee!

I'll give it a few more days.

laundrylover · 13/12/2007 14:54

Tutu, I have been through the broody stage and decided that wanting to buy more nappies is in fact not a good enough reason to have a third child!! At least both my sisters are preggers so are chasing all my bits and bobs...

laundrylover · 13/12/2007 14:56

Astro, are you putting DS in brightbots or boys knickers? I saw some fab Bob the Builder pants yesterday which DD2 would've loved. I ditched the brightbots and DD2 was much better in knickers.....

He's sooooo close to being potty trained -don't give up on him. Is he getting treats?

OP posts:
Astrophe · 13/12/2007 15:16

Just started on treats. We used to sing a song, but had stopped as he was so reliable (so long as he was nude!) that we didn't need to.

I need so buy some tiny treats - at the moment he is getting a giant choc button each time! If I ask him to go and sit, we will, and will often wee. But he never remembers to take himself with pants on, the pants must feel like a nappy to him.

We were using bright bots, but a friend gave me some postman pat ones, and some with footballs on, so we are mostly using those (although we need about 6 pairs a day!). There doesn't seem t be any difference between them though, although he does like the pat/football ones.

He is close isn't he? Thanks for saying that. Friends just keep saying 'oh, he is so little, don't push him', which blows my confidence.

laundrylover · 13/12/2007 15:20

But they've been brainwashed by Pampers!!!! Bet it'll click for him really soon.

DD2 was dry all day at nursery yesterday - they are very impressed. She's a star!

OP posts:
Astrophe · 13/12/2007 17:07

they have, I know. but they make me feel like I am being a really pushy mum.

well done for DD being dry at nursery, and at NIGHT! amazing! Must be the mothering she recieves

loler · 13/12/2007 20:37

LL you are just trying to make me feel jealous of your 21 month genius. My ds1 is 2.8 and still not got a clue about the potty. Think ds2 will be out of nappies before him!

Having DC3 for the cute tiny weeny non stinky nappies is definately worth it!

loler · 13/12/2007 20:38

PS. So you didn't say a no to washing my nappies

laundrylover · 14/12/2007 15:20

Loler, think they may freeze on the line today tho!

OP posts:
FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 13:10

Awww

I am doing the same, but for less happy reasons - DS is reacting to his nappies no matter what I do, so is refusing to wear cloth

laundrylover · 17/12/2007 09:27

Oh no Flame, that sounds awful for him (amd you!). What is making him react do you think?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 17/12/2007 22:10

Certainly freeze on the line up here! LOL Our back garden doesn't get the sun at all in the winter & the clothes line & everything else back there just stayed covered in a thick frost all day! Didn't even attempt to hang my nappies (or clothes) out there today! Afraid I had my tumble drier on about 6 times today (between 2 loads of nappies & 4 loads of clothes). But I always love hanging out nappies - and my 2yo daughter loves to help me too! Always enjoy the dry summer days with sushine! Did actually get a load nearly dry last week - rare in the winter!

Oh yes, and I feel for your laundrylover! I would really miss nappies! Forutnately, even though my 2yo little girl is thinking of potty training (tho really too cold to let her go around in just pants!) I still have my 9mo little boy, so don't have to say goodbye yet! And hopefully I'll have more babies too!

laundrylover · 18/12/2007 15:56

Whereabouts in Scotland are you Rachel? My sis is in Forres....cold there too!

OP posts:
FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 18/12/2007 20:52

Not a clue LL - I am now freezing them in an attempt to kill off anything not killed by hot washes, stripping and different powders!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 18/12/2007 23:22

laundrylover: I'm just north of Inverness, here in the Highlands of Scotland. So not too far from Forres! Still freezing here - nothing has thawed for days. Wonder if we'll get some snow to stick to it all!

laundrylover · 19/12/2007 09:55

Well, my sister is due her first in July so maybe you'll have to organise a meet up and discuss cloth nappies and freezing washing tales. I'll have to turn her into a MN addict first.

Flame, hope the bum is better soon. Have you treated it for thrush?

OP posts:
loler · 19/12/2007 10:37

I read somewhere about ironing them to kill of thrush and other nasties. Hate ironing so would have to be a last resort for me!

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 19/12/2007 11:30

Yup, treated for thrush. The thought of ironing shaped nappies sounds like hell!

laundrylover · 19/12/2007 11:34

The thought of ironing anything sounds like hell to me.

laundrylover: but I thought you loved laundry! ROFL Surely that includes ironing! I was gonna send you all my ironing to do! haha I just don't wear clothes that require an iron!

Flibbertinseljinglebells · 19/12/2007 21:27

My ds2 has started saying wee wee and poo and trying to pull his trousers down. He is 18 months!!! Hurrah it looks like the end is in sight!
3 years ago yesterday DS1 arrived and I started washing nappies. I had 12 months of washing nappies for 2 children. (don't possess a tumble dryer but do have laundry rack hoisted in the ceiling void over the stairs where all the warm air rises to. V efficient).
I will REJOICE when ds2 is dry. No hankering for more babies or more nappies to wash from me, thank you very much!
No, my nappies will be STRAIGHT on the mumsnet classifieds
