Best affordable car seat

Wondering what the best car seat is? Ideally under £350.

Don't want a 4 point seatbelt lock. Just want to keep it easy with just isofix!

For what age of child?

What's their age and weight? Depending on if.you want extended rear facing (ideally the safest option until aged 4) you may not get an isofix seat as there's a maximum weight isofix can take. If your child is below 50th centile you should be able to use isofix until they're safe enough to go into a hbb but if not then you'll most likely need a belted seat. Ones like axkid or the britax max way keep the seat belt out of the way though so no more difficult to get the child in and once you've fitted them once it's as easy as isofix.

She's 6 months

Is she in an infant carrier seat at the moment? That's probably the best thing to keep her in for now as it will give you more options if you wait until closer to the end of the first year to change.

Do you want to move to a rear facing seat (safer) or forward facing?

Do you have any specific issues with your car e.g. little space, or very sloped back seats, or storage boxes meaning you can't use a seat with support leg?

Is your daughter big, small for age or around average?

You say you want Isofix, but that is a little limiting in terms of options particularly if you want the safest seat you can get. Bear in mind that for the next stage you tend to fit the seat once and then leave it in the car all the time, so the method of fitting isn't quite so crucial.

Having said all that with no other information to go on other than an Isofix seat for a 6 month old for £350, I'd suggest Britax Dualfix i-size M.

If she is bigger for her age, you can compromise on the Isofix point and are happy rear facing, Avionaut Sky.

If you don't want to do extended rear facing but she is bigger for her age, Maxi Cosi Beryl, but I'd recommend you max out the rear facing limit on it (up to 13kg).

I did a bit of research on this and bought the Joie 360 for around £200.

Joie is the best value brand when it comes to decent quality and low price.

As Bertie says, best to keep baby in the infant seat for as long as possible. The next seat depends on the answers to all Bertie's questions.

An infant carrier seat (Group 0+) can be used until the baby reaches the weight limit which is generally 13kg or their head reaches the top of the seat.

9kg is the absolute minimum weight for the next stage (Group 1) car seat and in the unlikely event that your DD grows out of it before this then you'd need a group 0/1 seat which has more space but would allow her to continue rear facing.
or you could get a 1,2,3 car seat which will grow with her.

Extended rear facing is worth researching at this point so you can make an informed decision on when to switch and what the benefits are.
