Dressing 8 month old for winter break in the UK

After 2 years we can finally return home and visit our families. We currently live abroad where winters are not that cold.

How do I dress an 8 month old for Northumberland/Scotland in December and January?

At the moment babe is wearing a long sleeved vest, tights and a knitted sweater vest over the top (my husband says she looks like the cross between a gymnast and a snooker player!). Its about 15-18C here. She's also an active baby and will spend a lot of time crawling very fast!

Should I buy a pramsuit?

Sorry if this sounds daft - I[m fine dressing myself but don't want to have my PFB uncomfortable!

Leggings over the tights, t shirt over the vest. Star Wrap easier than pramsuit. Cheap fleece footmuff for the buggy.

Do I put on socks over the tights? She's not ever worn shoes before - just little knitted bootees

I love our footmuff for the buggy - you'll definitely need the rain cover too, helps keep the wind off its very cold even if it's not raining.

Mine have been mostly fine in leggings, socks, vest, jumper and coat (we're on the coast so they might just be hardy children!). Hat is a must though you'll spend most your time putting it back on. Blanket for over the car seat if you're using a car to get round.

I think in winter here I’d have dressed mine in vest, long sleeve top, cardigan, soft trousers or leggings and socks.

Pramsuit or star wrap outside as mentioned above.

Footmuff is a must as people have said.

Also, especially if baby isn’t used to cold weather, you might consider a cold weather protection cream for their face www.babipur.co.uk/weleda-baby-calendula-weather-protection-cream-30ml.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAsqOMBhDFARIsAFBTN3e9F_XPf2upqosn2tSYkVxBvNygwkr9lz3X73NZNllRF9Qytsq5qC8aAr0lEALw_wcB

As a Northumbrian I'd suggest a thick pramsuit or coat and thick trousers for the winter, star wraps are great but you'd probably need a coat underneath. Hat and gloves for outdoors cos the wind can go right through you!

Long sleeved jumper not sweater vest, moccons for crawling around indoors.

Yeah I would agree with @ninecoronas and get a pram suit for sure, hat, mittens, knitted leggings are good, long sleeve vests, 2.5 tog sleeping bag....

What's the set up? No chance of borrowing? We would just go my sister is coming for two months, any friends have X,y, z she can borrow? And people would happily lend some stuff, especially at that age because they grow so quick.

I have sleeping bags, a pram suit and a sleeping bag that have all been given to me. Plenty of tights and long sleeved vests. I'll see if I can get a footmuff for the buggy secondhand.

It seems like I need a warm jumper over a long sleeved vest and some thick leggings to put over the tights for indoor . Then add a pramsuit for when we go out? Or do I add a coat as well?
