Hi, I'm a new mum and worrying about little ones head flop. After feeding and burping over the shoulder her head flops back then forward quickly and sometimes I don't catch it in time, happened a few times. Baby doesn't cry and all normal just worried if could cause any damage. Anyone anything similar or reassuring. Thanks

Just keep your hand on back of baby's head.

You need to support your babies head.

Try burping baby with baby on your lap, one hand supporting her chin, the other hand burping the baby. Look it up as I can’t explain it fully but that way her head is supported x

Are you burping baby like this. The head should be supported and not allowed to roll backwards and forwards.

You do know young babies can't support their heads? You need to be holding it so it doesn't flop about.

The bones that support the head on the spine aren’t fully fused yet, it’ll be a couple of months. Ask your health visitor to show you a few ways to transfer baby from/to different positions safely and you’ll feel more confident as they can physically reassure you in person

Yes I always support her head and have to change positions for burping to get some burps up so do the knee one also. She is starting to lift her head and couple times just caught me off guard and head rolled back then forward. Just anxious and worried incase any problems from it. Thanks

My little boy flung his head back a couple of times. My husband mentioned it to midwife who was very reassuring. She said it doesn't hurt baby because the neck isn't fully fused it's when they are older that in can cause pain. I can't remember exactly what she said though so speak to yours but I do remember my husband worrying cos it happened when he was holding him and the midwife was lovely about it Xx
