Advice on human bite

Wasn’t sure where to post this, but my 2 year old dd bit my 4 year old ds this evening. It’s broken the skin and caused it to bleed a little, very red and a little swollen around the bite mark. Should I phone the drs in the morning? I’m not sure wether it’s harmless as after a quick Google (I know) it’s saying having a course of antibiotics for cover and a tetanus!? Thank you for any replies

I think your being massively over cautious! I wouldn't worry as long as it doesn't start looking infected/hot to the touch etc.

LaBellina · 07/11/2021 22:41

I would call if it doesn’t improve, human bites can get infected easily

NoStylist · 07/11/2021 22:42

I’m really happy to hear that Grin I’m naturally an over worrier when it comes the the kids anyway so need to be told when I’m over reacting!

Ahh cross post- think I will phone them in morning, even if it’s for peace of mind

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it unless it turns as PP have said.

One of my daughters went through a hideous biting phase and I lost count of the number of times we all got bitten Blush With time and reminders not to bite they do grow out of it eventually. One thing I found that worked well was making a big fuss of the bitten child rather than the biter.

My littler one bit my bigger one like this and I didn't do anything in terms of medical attention. May not have been the right response but she was fine.

NoStylist · 07/11/2021 22:47

Funnily enough I have 5 DC and my DD4 (the biter) is the only one to ever do this- was always going to happen someday wasn’t itGrin and although she’s only 2 she’s very alert and bright and the second she realized how bad she’d hurt her brother she burst into tears saying sorry and giving lots of hugs and kisses!

Poor thing, it does look painful 😓

Griefmonster · 07/11/2021 23:08

I would get that checked out. Looks really painful. How long since the bite was that photo taken? It looks like it could be infected?

NoStylist · 07/11/2021 23:11

The bite happened around 6:30pm, I took this while he was asleep at 10pm. I’m waiting for a phonecall back from nhs direct Wales (don’t have 111 here) better to be safe!

I wouldn't have called 111 (or the equivalent) for that tbh. It does look sore but not in need of medical attention on a Sunday night sore.
That would be a pharmacy trip here, they're great and would tell you if it needed to be seen or what to do with it.
