2 year old tiny dot, starting vomiting yesterday, pretty much chucked up everything she ate. Today no sickness but she’s pretty much nil by mouth except for her water and a bit of cows milk. She’s not breastfeeding anymore so I’m a bit worried about her not getting any calories in but she’s just not into eating. She’s happy to eat fruit but things like toast, crackers (non controversial things for an upset tummy and things she liked before) nope.

What do you feed your littles when they’re unwell?

Hey, my 14 month old basically didn’t eat a single thing for almost 2 weeks apart from breast milk. I would say just keep offering them whatever they’ll have and she’ll get her appetite back as soon she’s perked up. Oh and just keep an eye on wet nappies. GP said that’s the main way to know if they’re doing ok x

I’d feel a bit better if she was still breastfeeding but my milk dried up in my second pregnancy. She’s still drinking so she’s ok from a hydration point of view. She’ll only eat fruit, worried she’s going lose weight and it will hinder her growth xx

I think bananas are pretty good even when sick if she just likes fruit at the moment

Ice lollies are good for preventing dehydration. Don't worry too much about not eating, just let her get over the bug. She'll get her appetite back when she's getting better.

She likes her bananas!

Just feel so sorry for her she’s ill all the time and there are some concerns around how small she is, she needs all the calories she can get.

We tried her with pediasure and she won’t drink that either

I think this is pretty normal. As adults we don’t eat much when we have a vomiting bug either. When she feels better she will eat. I would try plain things like yoghurt, banana, crackers, cereal, toast etc.

When my children are ill, I give them banana milkshake.
Milk, a banana, a drop of honey and a few porridge oats (if they’re up to it) in a blender.

My 2 year old had a sickness bug in August - I kept her to water for the first 24 hours - she didn't ask for anything more either and she didn't vomit during that time either. Next day I gave her cereal only and she picked at various bowls of that throughout the day with some crackers for tea. Then introduced fruit the following day. Her appetite didn't properly come back for a week or so even though she seemed fine and had her energy back. It was tricky as she goes back and forth between eating everything and then getting fussy again so it was hard to tell if it was the bug or just her. Just keep offering food and giving choices is all I can suggest!

I would say forget the milk for now, plenty of fluids and whatever she will eat.
Try a bit of plain pasta, maybe a spot of melted butter on it.
Would she eat a dippy boiled egg ? Thanks

We gave her pasta last night for dinner and it came back up, might try her again with it tonight.

She doesn’t like really dippy eggs normally, she normally loves a scrambled egg but wouldn’t touch them for lunch. She just wanted an apple and a few bites of bread x

That’s a good idea, we’ll try that for her bedtime milk xx

Give her whatever she will eat.
I remember giving mine very thin slices of cheese and apple.
