DD not eating

Anyone have any experiences.

DD turned 4 this week, been poorly since Monday with a cough, worse day Wednesday where she slept all day, ended up in a and e last night where she got 3 doses of steriods to take for 3 days.

Not covid we've had a negative covid test yesterday.

She's drinking plenty but not eaten anything really since Tuesday night, a bowl of cheerios, a couple of yogurts, and a couple of cereal bars.

Doctors and the community nurse who I spoke to today aren't worried about the eating, said as long as she's drinking she's fine. But I worry, how long can she go without eating properly? Does anyone else's child not eat when they are ill?

She's not the best eater at the best of times and we've worked so hard to try new foods I feel like we are going to go backwards

Keep going with the yoghurts (maybe some variety of flavours). You could make some jelly at home with added fruit and even milk. Angel delight. Soft fruits. Soup perhaps. Anything that doesn’t take much effort to eat is probably going to be easiest.

smoothies, milkshakes, tasty fruit?

My daughter is almost 3 and pretty much stops eating when she's poorly. She doesn't eat much usually either and is beginning to try new foods. She was recently poorly with a cough and only ate yoghurts and cereal - we did get a doctors appt and said she had an inflamed throat too. A few days of antibiotics and she's was back to her usual eating habits. It didn't affect the new foods she tired etc.
Hope your little one is better soon. :)

Yes my 3yr old stops eating when she is ill, even with just a wee cold and yours sounds like she’s been feeling very unwell. You could try fruit smoothies and ice lollies? But I think you can trust her body to guide her.

Thank you everyone, the doctor did say her tonsils were swollen but no infection its just a virus, I keep tempting her with yoghurt and Smoothies which she normally loves - she won't even eat chocolate.

Shes not a lover of fruit but will eat it at nursery even though she refuses at home, she just keeps saying she's not hungry so I'll just have to trust that she isn't and hopefully she'll be better soon

My DD is quite a bit younger (2yo) but stopped eating for nearly a week a couple months back due to a bug. Her appetite didn’t really recover properly for a couple of weeks even after the illness passed, but slowly we got there.

The fluids really are the most important thing. I would just keep offering her small amounts of things she likes and I’m sure it will build back up again.

Yeah my DS stops eating when ill also.
I find it takes a couple of weeks to build back up to what he used to eat.
I manage to get him to eat watermelon when he's ill.

How about fruit smoothies frozen into ice lollies?

How about fruit smoothies frozen into ice lollies?
That's a good idea she likes ice lollies so at least she'll have a bit of goodness
