How to get baby to nap at home!

Need some help with my 12 week old who will only nap in the day in the pram or the car.

I've tied everything at home - rocking, contact, Moses basket, swing, bouncer, rocker, white noise, dark room, pillow spray - you name it I've tried it!

Getting out in the morning is OK for first nap but also have an 18 month old so tricky to be out in the afternoon as he naps for a couple of hours and then dinner etc.

She's sleeping well at night, will self settle and generally one wake for a feed but she gets grouchy and upset in the day due to tiredness.

Maybe still too young to be able to sleep without motion? Have you tried a wrap or sling for naps? Can you go for a short drive then lift the car seat into the house?

Can't you push the pram back and forth at home somewhere like hall or kitchen or on a mat in the lounge?

@hemhem I have a sling but find it difficult to sit down and play with DS when DD is in it

@DailyRepeatGuarantee typically (and annoyingly!) the back and forth doesn't do it for her, has to be constant forward 🙈

Sling and then play with your DS when he’s in the high chair or at a table so it’s easier to sit? Or rock the pram inside? At 12weeks, not many babies easily nap in their cots I don’t think. Took my older DS until he was about 6 or 7 months to have a decent cot nap.

Full sympathy - my eldest was like this! Back and forth didn’t work for her until closer to five months and she HOWLED in any kind of sling, absolutely hated too much contact. Will your eldest nap in a buggy? Could you borrow a double and go for a really long walk with an audiobook on headphones?

I was thinking put baby in a sling for when your DS needs his nap, assuming he naps in the house. Or try sling to get baby to fall asleep at home, then transfer to a moses basket or sleepyhead pillow thing. My second did nearly all her naps in the sling. I used to potter round the house with DC1 doing standing up stuff, or sometimes managed to take wrap off and transfer DC2 to a floormat for half the nap
