Nappy rash and CONSTANT poo

Not sure whether this is the right place to post (as there is no 'poo forum' - perhaps there should be!)

My 4 1/2 month old breastfed baby has suddenly gone from pooing twice a week to pooing constantly. We have 10-15 nappies a day all full of poo much of it bright yellow/green (sorry TMI!). This has been happening for 10 days now. The HV and DR aren't too concerned, don't think she has an infection and think it's just hat she's been upset by something she ate and it'll settle down. The culprit is probably the bit of formula we tried to get her to take to see whether I could go out for an evening with confience. Has anyone else had anything like this? If so, how long did it last? The Dr is saying, come back in a fornight if it's still going!

My other question is what to do about nappy rash. After 10 days of this she's now getting quite red. I'm cleaning her with cotton wool and water, drying with a towel and putting sudocream on. I'm also trying to give her a couple of 15/20 min nappy free sessions a day (all a bit hairy given the constant poo!) Is there anything more I can do?

Thanks in advance for any tips. It's so glamarous being a parent!

Use a barrier cream on to of the sudocream, like vaseline, to stop the area getting really wet. It should help give the area a chance to heal.

on top of the sudocream

Metanium cream is absolutely brilliant. No house with a baby in it should be without a tube!

Woops I've just read that post and seen all the typos - that's what you get for typing whilst trying to stop a baby hitting the keyboard.

Many thanks for those tips. I'll get down to the chemist in the morning and try to get vaseline and metanium cream. Sudocream has always been great in the past but I'm not sure that anything is going to fully heal it whilst she's still ill

Thanks
