How do I keep my child warm at night?

DD has just turned 5 and has never been a great sleeper. Recently I think she is waking because she’s cold. She sleeps in long sleeve cotton pjs and has a 10 tog microfibre duvet. She kicks away hot water bottles. I’ve noticed when I get into her bed that it feels cold. Are there any suggestions for a way to keep her and her bed warm at night so we both get a good nights sleep?

Thanks all, we have the fleecy sheets already but I think we’ll give bed socks a go. She does have a blanket on her bed but it’s just a thin fleece one so I’ll have a look at some nice woollen ones.

We’re in the south of England, we have the heating on a timer so it isn’t on at night but the house is modern and fairly well insulated so doesn’t get ridiculously cold anyway.

My 10 yr old is still on a 1.5tog duvet. He kicks it off quite frequently. Im going to make a suggestion that might sound weird. Do you think she gets too hot (10 tog in our well insulated barrett box with heating off overnight is a very cold winter), kicks off the duvet, and then cant find it again? Have you tried a thinner duvet that she might say under for longer?
What duvet are you using? Kids typically have thinner duvets than adults, iirc.

I can recommend sleeping bags with feet. It's literally stopped all night waking for the youngest.

@InTheLabyrinth that’s actually a really interesting point. I’ve put a warmer blanket over her tonight (hot water bottle was rejected) and I’ll see if that works. If not I might try going down to the 7 tog

What temp is the room? Our rooms are normal some about 18c over night and my kids would be too hot with a 10 tog duvet.

I was going to suggest a fleece blanket under the sheet plus another under the duvet. Does she wear socks in bed? If so warm fluffy socks could help.

If you live in a relatively temperate zone I'm sure she's not waking up because she's cold. She's waking up because she wants/expects you to get into bed with her and sleep with her.

My DS kicked off blankets so we used sleeping bags, from gro.co.uk/product/grobag-baby-sleep-bag/

You could try giving her a warm bath right before bedtime. I'm a terrible sleeper and much worse if I get into a cold bed. If I shower then get straight into bed I stay warm and fall asleep straight away.
