White discharge in baby's eyes - is this conjunctivitis?

My 1-year old has had white/green/white discharge coming out of her eyes since yesterday morning. She also has a cold and has mucus of the same colour coming out of her nose, so it wasn't until today that I realised her eye issue might be separate. Is this conjunctivitis? Her eyes don't seem pink/red or bothering her, so doesn't seem like classic 'pink eye'.

I will of course go to the pharmacy tomorrow first thing. But in the meantime, does anyone have experience of this? Is it just a cold? Will they send her home tomorrow from nursery?

My son has this (looks like snotty eyes) and GP just said it's part of whatever viral cold he's got. Warm water and clean flannel is the NHS advice unless red then possibly needs antibiotics from GP

My DD had this a few weeks ago and was sent home from nursery. We treated it as conjunctivitis with some eye drops from the pharmacy and it cleared up in a few days.

Thanks both. @Grasshopper90 how many days was she excluded for? I'm dreading this!

We’ve just treated exactly this conjunctivitis for the 8MO. No nursery exclusion policy as long as it’s being treated. However, the drops aren’t available without a prescription for under 2s although I think the 2+ treatment is the same stuff as I think the first pharmacist I saw was trying to lead me into saying our older child needed them too so she could sell them. To be on the safe side we did see the GP who was really unimpressed with the nursery pushing eye drops and very very reluctantly agreed to prescribe. But it cleaned up quickly, about 3 days in all.

Tears drain from the inside corners of the eyes down into the back of the nose somewhere. So yes this discharge is quite likely to be coming from the same source as her nose. If her eyes aren't getting pink or red then it probably isn't conjunctivitis. Gently cleaning them should be all you need to do. If she's otherwise well enough for nursery, talk to them about it.

My son had blocked tear ducts till he was nearly 1, I did a lot of eye cleaning for that, but he didn't get conjunctivitis. Between 1 and 2 we had quite a lot of "snotty eyes" with colds and I was mostly able to reassure his nursery. (some years back now ...)

Hope her cold clears up soon.

@jellybean30 She was excluded for just the first day. Once we'd started the drops she could go back.
