Formula change- help!

Hello, any advice please:

My baby is nearly 4 weeks old and she has suffered with reflux since birth. She has been on aptamil and I have been putting dentinox in her bottles and there has been some improvement recently in terms of a reduction of reflux symptoms.

I have read really good reviews about kendamil and bought a couple of tubs as I was hoping this may make a positive difference to her reflux. I messaged kendamil and they suggested gradually introducing kendamil to the baby and that it can take 7-10 days for the baby to adjust. I made a bottle last night and did 2 scoops kendamil and 2 scoops aptamil but my baby was vomiting a lot and showed quite bad reflux symptoms. Is this normal when introducing new formula, should I do 3 scoops aptamil 1 scoop kendamil at first instead or do you think kendamil does not agree?

Any advice welcome.

I dont think you should mix the formulas at all tbh.

I changed from cow and gate to kendamil. My health visitor advised just changing him over. I don't think you can mix formulas, can you?

What kendamil probably meant there was start with 1 or 2 kendamil bottles a day, not to mix the formulas in the same bottle.

We did a straight swap to Kendamil. However it also made my baby vomit a lot / scream after bottles. It is advised to wait 2 weeks to see how baby adapts to it. However If after this time she’s still being sick/ refluxy then I’d check her out for CMPA. That’s what my baby had and is now on Aptamil pepti. Still very sick however he’s not as uncomfortable after feeds.x

We did a gradual swap by bottles (ie one bottle Kendamil) and she was fine. Did a straight swap a couple of weeks ago from Kendamil Classic to Kendamil Goat and she’s been fine. I’d probably just do a straight again if I had to, seeing as it was so easy.

Kendamil made my DD’s reflux 10 times worse sadly Sad the only formula that worked for her was SMA (found it thicker than most) with gaviscon. But I just changed straight, didn’t bother mixing it.

I was thinking it might be CMPA as well. Have a read of this from Allergy UK and see if any of the symptoms sound familiar.

Thanks everyone, it seems like I have got completely the wrong end of the stick with mixing the formula from your responses. Before seeing your responses my partner did first morning feed and gave her 1 scoop kendamil/ 3 scoops aptamil and she wasn’t sick and seemed to be ok with this. However I will take advice and swap one bottle later today to just kendamil and see how we get on.

Can anyone please advise how long we should do one bottle of kendamil a day before increasing to two bottles and then increasing again? Obviously I will see how she responds.

Thanks!

Also have had a look online and don’t think it is CMPA. I am a little hesitant with requesting infant gaviscon at the moment as I know with some babies it can cause constipation, but if she still seems symptomatic in another week/ two weeks I will contact the doctor.

Also have had a look online and don’t think it is CMPA. Was it the Allergy UK site that you looked at? Just checking as there is so much misinformation regarding CMPA on the web.
