Bleach on highchair straps?

High chair straps have got disgusting as they do. I was wondering about cleaning them with bleach...I did it once when we had a poonami on the lower straps.

But not sure about the straps she can reach and put in mouth.

Anyone used bleach?

Can you remove them altogether and soak 15 mins or so in bleach then put them through a quick wash in a pillowcase for a level of rinsing that would really clear off the bleach? Long time ago now but that's what I did. They take no time to air dry because they're nylon. Took pictures to remind me how to put them back properly and did it after bedtime so got them back in time for breakfast.

Maybe try white vinegar and bicarbonate first? Would probably remove the stains without the bleach concerns.

I used bleach and then used the shower head to wash it off, making sure I really did wash thoroughly. Mine are both still alive so I'm guessing I washed them enough 😅

I regularly cleaned the highchair with bleach including the tray they ate off. 4 DC all survived this 🙈

I know it's not what you asked but we found the bibs with sleeves cover over the straps nicely, bypassing the grotty straps issue altogether.

@johnd2 yes...we have these and agree are super! However. Me ill for two days and hubby left to feed = Hella mess!!! Hence now the need for urgent cleaning haha

Ours detach and will go through the washing machine (we put them in a pillowcase so they don't get tangled up with anything). Might that be better than bleach? If they can be detached, that is.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 30/10/2021 20:17

I always just detached mine and put them in the washing machine

I soaked mine in Milton, did the trick!

Another vote for Milton
