My son had a fever the past two days, not too crazy around 38.5 degrees and he had a cough 2 days ago, it was better yesterday but all of a sudden turned so much worse. It's constant and it's hurting apparently (well I would be hurting).

I just called the GP and he can't see a doctor before tomorrow. His breathing is ok (no wheezing so far) but I'm just so worried. He was so much better this morning ( no fever) and now this. He's currently in the bath (35 degrees) and I had turned the shower to the hottest as well so the room is really steamy.

What would you do? Just a worried mum here .

@gemloving

*update: no Covid, have been testing daily
Daily PCRs? If not, it's probably covid.

@Kitkat151

GP likely won’t see him until you’ve had a PCR test.... wouldn’t at my surgery anyway....not with Covid symptoms
Exactly this. Ring 111 for advice. We can't risk possible covid in the surgery.

Our GP will see us with covid symptoms outside if we haven’t had a negative pcr.

Glad your son has been seen by a doc and has medication. Hope they sleep well tonight and feel better

@gemloving

Update: at our hospital, not one doctor even asked about COVID and he saw 3.

Chest X-ray, steroids, nebuliser, now home with antibiotics and an inhaler.

Glad you’ve been seen. My experience of medical staff is that they just crack on with sick kids, there’s none of the Covid hysteria.

The steroids are usually magic, so hopefully you’ll see a big improvement quickly.

We have had 3 A&E visits with DD since the pandemic and 4 GP and not once did anyone ask about Covid. We had done PCR tests but they weren’t interested-they just got on with diagnosis and treatment.

Take them to the docter to get checked out. Every time my son has a cough he vomits all through the night because of the phlegm it’s awful. I took him to get checked as I thought a chest infection as he had a temp too but they said it was viral - but he did have an ear infection too so had antibiotics. Thy told me they never mind checking over young children and are always over cautious. It’s rubbish about the pcr I’ve seen three gps now before doing a covid test on my son so don’t worry
