I am thinking about nice Christmas gifts and would love to gift a friend’s new baby (due next week) some books. Would love to hear recommendations of your favourite books for babies/ toddlers.

My dd loves Night Monkey, Day Monkey by Julia Donaldson. I love 'the places you' ll go' by Dr Seuss

If you wanted a Christmas one, the we have 2 pop ups by Robert Sabudo that come out every year and they are stunning

If you're getting a few, I'd include That's not my Reindeer. The "That's not my" books are tactile and babies and toddlers usually love them.

There are some lovely suggestions from the Book Trust here.

My 2 particularly loved the Jolly Christmas Postman and Father Christmas Goes on Holiday although they are perhaps books fit the baby to grow into.

Anything colourful, the touch and feel ones are good for younger ones.

We've got loads of books and ours never really favoured a particular one. I rotated them so we had weeks with a different one or 2 each night before bed. I buy them in packs at Costco when I see new ones. The paper dolls is one I like, sing it so it's stuck in my head lol.

Mine used to like ‘The lion who loved to draw’ and ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ and ‘Tortuga’. He started turning the pages himself at three months. But once he got to four months he totally lost interest in books and I gave up trying to read to him.
