Leaking Huggies - AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHH

Am I the only one who finds that everytime dd does a poo, huggies nappies leak so that it goes all up her back and ruins the clothes she is wearing as I can't seem to get the stains out....

I stupidly bought the big boxes too so have a stack of nappies.....

Are Pampers any better?

I think different people find different nappies work. Huggies were fine for us, unless DD did a monster poo, in which case nothing could have contained it.
One friend of mine swears by Sainsbury's own brand.

mumofmonSTARsOfBethlehem · 10/12/2007 21:33

Babies are all differetn shapes and sizes and nappies depend on which brand you buy to which shape they are.

How old is your dd?

VanillaPumpkin · 10/12/2007 21:33

Huggies are rubbish IMO. I used cloth, but when I wasn't we had leaks with Huggies but less with Pampers.
Cloth was the best as elasticated at the back and if by some miracle it escaped the cloth bit, the wrap stopped it. DD1 did the most explosive poos ever. She had a real jet bot. Perhaps someone with a less explosive child might buy your nappies?

yeah I use lovely cheap sainsburys own brand and they are almost always ok. Sometimes there is a monster poo that no nappy could contain but mostly they're OK for us. I think your baby's build is a big factor in which nappy suits best.

This reminds me I should get off my @rse and get some reusable ones.

Desiderata · 10/12/2007 21:35

I think that both Huggies and Pampers are crap.

I use/used Sainsbury's, and never had a single leakage problem. They're a fraction of the price, but without the insane marketing.

BeeWiseMen · 10/12/2007 21:35

lol at jet bot! imagining your dd hovering off the ground as another poo lands.

pinkrangernowwobbles · 10/12/2007 21:36

Tesco's own brand are also good, i found them better then Pampers, never had a leak with them!!

justme27 · 10/12/2007 21:39

OMG - thanks for all the responses and so quickly!!

DD is 4 months old. My sis in law has a dd the same age and finds pampers better but never thought about own brands. Seems like Sainsburys is good. Will try then out.

Any tips for washing the clothes?

. She did one at a few weeks old when I was changing her and it flew from her bottom and nearly off the end of the changing mat . She was small and right at the top end of it .

VanillaPumpkin · 10/12/2007 21:41

Just wash them normally. They may stain. You could try a pre-wash with a nappy soak. The sun will get stains out but not good for this time of year. Or wash in bio powder and then again in the non bio or give an extra rinse??

BeeWiseMen · 10/12/2007 22:25

well vanilla at least you know she's always got a career as an end of the pier variety act.

ecover bleach is v v good and gentle for stains IME. Though I have mostly used to for getting rid of red wine stains. How old are they before they can hold a stemmed wine glass without spillage?

LadyOfTheFlowersXmasName · 10/12/2007 22:27

I have only ever found Tescos own nappies to hold everything in, or cloth nappies.
Nothing escapes an elasticated wrap

horsemadgal · 12/12/2007 11:01

Lidl's are fab.

ChubbyStuckForAFestiveNameBurd · 12/12/2007 11:06

ASDA nappies and Vanish powder - job's a good un ... and I too have a jet-bot (think 'shits on his own elbows via vest sleeves') - so I can sympathise

kekouan · 08/01/2008 10:18

I found the same thing with huggies, don't know why it happened! Found Pampers better - never leaked with my DS (and he's got skinny legs)
