How on earth do I get DD1 2.1 to let me brush her teeth?

Every thing I try seems to result in a floppy bodied tantrum, we both get fed up and her teeth don't get cleaned. The last three nights I have refused to read her a story unless she lets me clean her teeth. She has gone to bed each night with uncleaned teeth and no story. It feels really sad missing out her story, because it's a really special time, and she loves it, but I feel like I have exhausted other ideas.
Any ideas, please help. Her teeth will surely go black and fall out.

If sharing toothbrushes = bacteria transfer then how come we don't all have to get a new toothbrush every day?

Dental cavities are caused by a bacteria called streptococcus mutans. If you have decaying teeth and are harbouring this bacteria then you can pass it to someone else when you share toothbrushes. It's also another good reason why you shouldn't suck a baby's dummy when they drop it and then put it back in their mouth.

Lego- this article is quite interesting, if a little disgusting. It predicts we will be sterilising toothbrushes or using disposable ones in a few years!

I went to see my dentist this morning and I asked him whether it was okay to clean my daughter's teeth with my tooth brush, while I was cleaning my teeth. He said it was fine. He said that there may be one or two bacteria transferred but it was unlikely and low risk, and that there are bacteria killing agents in toothpaste anyway. He said it was far better to give her teeth a great clean with my toothbrush, than only half a clean or no clean at all with her own.

He did, however, warn me that adult fluride toothpaste was unsuitable for baby teeth as if she swallows too much of it her adult teeth could grow through mottled.

Thought I'd share .

Can you try getting a fun tooth brush. Tescos sell them relatively cheaply.

We got an electric toothbrush and its great for a five year old, who wants no help with cleaning his teeth, but does not have the fine motor skills to do a proper job.
