For a dolls pram, cradle, highchair, bike, rocking horse....all in a flat. We thankfully have very generous grandparents, and like buying the dcs toys too, but it seems to hinder them sitting down and playing as the big toys seem to scatter round the room.

The only way is for me to every so often push the big toys into various corners while they play.

Is there a better way?

Big toys to be stored in child's bedroom - only one allowed out at a time?

there room isnt very big, but i suppose if they dont play there then it shouldnt matter. thanks!

I actually think you might need one of these

or maybe a floor to ceiling wardrobe? Or shelves?

I have to admit, against all my principles, i chucked a load of the kids stuff last week (and put a load more into the loft to rotate) and it IS great. They play with what they have far far more, because they can actually see it.

In our flat (small) we have Santa and Anti Santa ie before Xmas and birthdays, the kids know there is a major weed out and toys that they don't play with are passed on to younger friends/relatives or chucked. That gets rid of some of the problem.

The other thing I do is every 3 or 4 months, we put toys away and get out other ones out.

For example, today the pirate ship (with 100 attendant pirates, canons, skeletons etc) has been put on top of the wardrobe, swapping places with the fort. All excitement at home because it feels like they have 'new' toys - they were playing with the fort for over an hour before cbeebies was turned on.

I got hold of a load of stacking boxes from Ikea in which the 'put away' toys are consigned to - they go on top of the wardrobe, in the airing cupboard, under our bed or in the loft.

HTH

we actually have this, but sadly doesnt fit the big toys. rotating may be good, but they do seem to be playing with all at them at the moment. loathe to put away anything that gives me time to mumsnet!
