Baby carrier for dad

Hi all,

I'm a father of a 12 week old looking for a structured carrier.

We have the Ergobaby Embrace but it doesn't really work for me... I'm fairly slim but with a large ribcage which means I feel like DS is squashed against me. As you can probably guess I'm pretty much looking between the Ergobaby Omni 360 and the Baby Bjorne One.

I've tried both on in store, and both feel fine (and better support than the Ergobaby Embrace) but wearing each for a few minutes doesn't really give the full picture. From lots of reading the Ergobaby seems better in terms of longevity and functionality, but the Babybjorne gets good reviews too and is more like you strap the baby in to the carrier once it's on you. I know previous threads tell about how the Babybjorne is terrible for your baby but I believe this is the much older models.

Does anyone have any longer term feedback for these two? Are they both as comfortable?

We use the ergo omni 360

Find it great tbh

My husband uses it for hours at a time with no issues and we barely even bother with the buggy tbh

We tried it for the first time wearing her on our back today and it was great! (She’s 7months old now)

We have the ergo baby omni 360 and find it great. It's comfy for both of us and easy to put on/off. Supports baby well and is structured enough to ensure we aren't getting back/neck ache. Would definitely recommend.

We use the Ergo 360. It adjusts to fit me or my husband perfectly and we can both wear the baby for a long time with no bother!

He's now 9 months and I still use it for the school run each day!

Try the baby lille. I don't think it's as snug as an ergo and def easier to get on off. Also look at Tula and boba.
Babipur does a great range of structured carriers - check forward facing and weight/ age.

I'm a babywearing consultant and run a sling library. If you have a local sling library I'd recommend going along and trying both, as everyone is different. Having said that, I'd recommend neither! The bjorn is a right faff, though can be made comfy, but the instructions are awful. The ergo omni 360 is much better, but the panel is quite short and narrow.
I'd recommend you try a manduca and a tula explore. Both are very popular with men and are structured with a comfortable waistband.

Is there a sling library close to you? Then you can try for a few weeks before buying

I have the baby bjorn one air and love it. Tried a few different styles from a sling library before settling for this one. Currently using it with my second baby and still love it. Find it really easy to strap baby in and out and really supportive too. My husband found it the most comfortable out of the ones we tried too - he's 6'2" and slim build if that is relevant?! Baby will generally feel snug to your chest though. I'm pretty sure that if they are positioned safely then they should feel snug!

I say snug to your chest, but probably more to your torso than chest really.
