I thought that green indicated wind? Could be wrong though. Have you eaten anything different that might have caused this?

How often and how long does she feed for op?
I remember reading green poo could mean dehydration. I'm not an expert but currently EBF my 6 month old. At 3 months she was feeding every 2-2.5hrs for approx 30 mins. Sometimes longer/more frequent.

I'd see how her next poo is before being too alarmed. There can be lots of variants of bf poo.

Green poo is usually a sign that they're getting too much fore milk and not enough hind milk. Is she having lots of short feeds? Try offering the breast they finished on first at the next feed. Mine sometimes get weird poo if snotty or teething to (almost a bit mucusy) - currently bf dc3.

One poo is nothing to worry about, keep an eye and it should settle down in the next day or so.

If she gets sleepy, tickle her chin to encourage her to keep suckling or do breast compressions as she's feeding. Also keep a wet wipe handy and gently wipe under her neck with it. It usually just keeps them awake that extra 5 mins or so. If she only does one breast and is fast asleep, try offering to other side as soon as she wakes up. I was told 15 minutes on one side is a good solid feed and anything over that is a bonus and just good for your supply 🙂
AlisonWhite · 22/10/2021 11:00

@lavenderlemon thank you! I have quite quick supply and when I pump I get a lot in 5 mins so she really guzzles for the first 5 mins then often falls asleep. I can get up to 10 mins out of her before she is completely zonked out lol. The other boob normally has to wait for the next feed but I will keep trying to extend the feeds! Xxx

Maybe you have oversupply so she's getting mainly fore milk? I did and DS had green poo like that and used to gulp, feed quickly and come off the breast milk drunk and sleepy Grin. My daughter just hated feeding as she couldn't cope with the fast flow/volume. Block feeding helped me and them manage it.

@QuentinBunbury yes I think it may be that as she is the same!

@AlisonWhite did you manage to resolve this?
I’m 2 weeks of green poops and been asked to cut out dairy to check for cows milk allergy although she has no other symptoms

Wishbub · 18/12/2021 22:22

This was a symptom of a tongue tie in our lo- there was never a good latch and they couldn't get to the hind milk- hence the green poos. A tongue tie division sorted it.

Kona84 · 18/12/2021 22:50

Mine has been checked twice for tongue tie.
Her poops were fine up until two weeks ago.

CelticPromise · 18/12/2021 22:54

Occasional green poo + no other symptoms is not an issue, no need to worry.

Roseandgeranium · 18/12/2021 23:15

My baby had a tummy bug at 5 months. His only symptom was a day of doing white, paste-like poo. Then his poo went frothy and green and stayed that way for three weeks. The GP said that sometimes a virus can trigger gastroenteritis in babies that lasts 1-4 weeks and causes transient lactose intolerance which produces the green poo. It cleared up on its own and he has a perfectly robust system now! So don’t panic too much if it hangs around for a bit.
