Nappy leaks

Overnight nappy leaks. Do you change your baby's clothes immediately or do you just change the nappy and leave the clothes change for the morning? Assuming the nappy is just wet.

My 6.5mo is in Lupilu size 4 nappies. I change him after every feed but he oversaturates his nappies and we get nappy leaks every night.

Id change clothes - would you like to sleep in your clothes if you had wet yourself? Go up a size too in nappies

Luckyelephant1 · 20/10/2021 04:04

I’d be looking to change nappy size and/or brand as clearly these aren’t working. Different babies suit different brands, for example we found Sainsbury’s own brand awful for causing leaks on my dd but Asda/Aldi are fine. And her nappies do get very heavy with wee but still don’t leak.

But if the clothes are very wet then yes of course change them! If it’s only a little bit of wetness on the vest bit that goes under the nappy then maybe you could get away with leaving that till the morning but anything in contact with the skin will be uncomfortable and should be changed.

I’d definitely change clothes that had been leaked on. I wouldn’t want to sleep in pyjamas which were wet from pee.

Change the clothes, nappy and sleeping bag, very annoying in the middle of the night though.

Definitely change nappy brand, Aldi nappies always leaked with my son so we switched to Asda and they've been fine.

Tibtab · 20/10/2021 08:42

I switched to pull up type nappies overnight and tried different brands. Surely by the time you have taken the nappy off the clothes are half way off anyway. We have a spare set handy and a spare sleeping bag.

user3193 · 20/10/2021 09:29

Asda nappies are the best for my little boy. He very rarely leaks! I would also change clothes and sleeping bag too if needed.

FTEngineerM · 20/10/2021 09:35

Go for rascal and friends nappy pants.
Lupilu also leaked like hell for us.

And yeah .. change the clothes, who lies in piss all night

CocaColaTruck1 · 20/10/2021 09:36

Deffo change clothes.
May need a size up.
Asda nappies stopped leaking for us.

110APiccadilly · 20/10/2021 09:37

I would change clothes. As well as making sure you have the right nappy size/brand check clothes are the right size, particularly vests - we had leaks at one point because DD's vests were a little short for her.

fluffybunny98765 · 20/10/2021 10:53

Second Asda or Aldi being best for us. My son (6m) and daughter (2y) both wear size 5 at night. DS is fine in 4 during the day and DD is potty trained but her night time nappy is enormous by the morning. I would change the clothes unless it was just a tiny bit wet on the vest where it wouldn't touch his skin.

Whysotired · 20/10/2021 11:19

We had this when DS was 5 months and the only ones I found worked (and still do at 19 months) were ASDA or Sainsbury’s but we went a size up for bed. I would definitely change the clothes.

Twizbe · 20/10/2021 11:27

Change clothes and size up the nappy.

Wagglerock · 20/10/2021 11:31

Yep always change here, and try other brands. Check vests/sleep suit aren't too tight as well as the compression can cause leaks

CoffeeMonkey · 20/10/2021 12:16

I would definitely change the clothes, couldn’t bear the thought of him in wet pee stained clothes for any length of time if I know about it!

Lupilu nappies leaked for us too, we found Tesco the best own brand option but always use Pampers overnight or if out for the day (we stock up when on offer to save money)

TurnUpTurnip · 20/10/2021 12:19

I’ve never had issues with nappies leaking but only use pampers, but yes I would change clothes if it had leaked, why wouldn’t you?

EmRowe12 · 22/10/2021 14:22

Definitely switch brands we use Asda Little Angels 6+ at night time with our DD (almost 4) and they are full in the morning but have no leaks. Also look out for "+" for extra absorbency.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 22/10/2021 15:01

You'd let them sleep in wet clothes?!

Caspianberg · 22/10/2021 15:09

Change everything if wet

We use reusable. Around 5 months they started leaking occasionally and we added extra insert. Only needed around 2 months and now they don’t leak again with extra. I think they pee a lot between 5-7 months as taking in the most milk before they start eating more solids.

Really recommend washable. Bar a tiny wet leak a few days at 5 months, never had any major leaks and never poop explosion!

Petrov · 27/10/2021 12:29

The issue I am having is that he’ll sleep through nappy changes but he won’t sleep through clothes changes, and every time I wake him by changing his clothes it is a real struggle to get him back to sleep. I have to change him after the feed otherwise he screams through the nappy change.

Set an alarm
And change nappy before it soaks through?

Caspianberg · 27/10/2021 13:14

Add reusable extra insert into disposable?

Dress baby in separate pjs rather than sleepsuit and vest so you can just change the bottoms if needed and less chance of waking?
