What do you give your kids to eat when they are ill?

DD3 was sick last night, from 4am onwards we didn't sleep.. She vomited a few times, we're both worn out today. She had dry cereal this morning for breakfast, some crisps and a slice of toast with honey for lunch, wondering what to make for dinner, maybe some plain pasta?
She's v good with her food but scared to give her much as don't want her stomach upset.
She's currently napping, which she never does now.

Also meant to add she's had fluids all day, lots of water.

plain white rice, plain pasta, broth with noodles are all good options

Aww poor thing. I would give her water, rich tea or digestive biscuits to nibble, some crisps, toast etc. Hope she gets well soon.

Was thinking plain pasta, she's hardly had much today. Was so awful, felt so helpless.. We just slept on the floor in her room together and was grabbing the sick bowl every 15 minutes 😭

I’d say nothing with lots of dairy, nothing too rich, nothing too greasy.
Rice, pasta, or potato would all be ok.

Yes. I didn't put milk in her cereal this morning as i was scared of her stomach being upset, she had miserable dry cheerios for breakfast :(

Definitely carbs like toast, crisps and biscuits. No dairy. Sips of water to rehydrate. Take it slow. I hope she feels better soon.

Pebbledashery · 16/10/2021 15:18

She's asked for beans on toast for tea now after waking up. Is that too risky?

@Pebbledashery if she's hungry and will eat it I'd give it.

SnugKnights · 16/10/2021 15:26

Don’t put butter on the toast and just give her a small portion would be my advice. My youngest often seems better then I let her eat and it all starts all over again.

bizzey · 16/10/2021 15:28

Beans on toast sounds good .
No butter, but the been sauce will soften the toast .

Not sure why....but my instincts tell me to stay away from honey .

MaryBoBary · 16/10/2021 15:31

Toast with just a tiny bit of butter for flavour

idontlikealdi · 16/10/2021 15:36

Whatever she fancies.

Just fluids and sleep initially. If they ask for food just a very small amount of plain carby type food.

Fallagain · 16/10/2021 18:22

You definitely need to price them realistically. Vtec walkers go for £5. Pushchairs at around 10-20% of there original cost.

Why no dairy? My DD3 also has tummy bug :(
