Best way to get rid of the dummy?

We left it late due to convenience but I really noticed the gap between my sons teeth this morning (he'll be 3 in January) and it actually made me feel like a shit mum because I caused this. I'm quite sure his lisp stems from that.

How did you do it? What's your success story? X

Gave ours to Santa to be made into new presents. Left them in a bowl alongside the carrot, mince pie and brandy, and Santa left a brilliant gift. Christmas after they turned 2 for each.

All DC need braces but that's due to their father's horrendous jaw rather than the dummies!

Thank you everyone. I'm going to Argos in the morning and will buy a new Lego Duplo toy. He's spending the morning with his nan so the dummies will be placed in a bowl for the dummy fairy, when he returns, he will be given the toy. I'm dreading the coming nights but I am sure we will be fine.

We did dummy fairy as well - we had about a week of build up and I took dd to Smyths to choose a toy.

She was 2.6 at the time and still in a sleeping bag so we also let her choose new ‘big girl’ bedding and changed over to a quilt at the same time.

I went a bit ott and had even written a letter ‘from the dummy fairy’ to hide under her pillow for me to read out, but she just rolled over and went to sleep Blush.

You (and he) will be fine, it’s for the best and it’s amazing how quickly their teeth move back into line.

We gave it to the Easter bunny who in turn left a nice egg. Explained over and over before there was no way she would ever have a dummy again if she decided to do it (also 3).

I thought there would be a melt down especially at bedtime, never asked for it once!!

Just prepare them before and you will be fine

Cold turkey, she'd had a SALT appointment two days earlier who said we had to get rid. We had a horrendous night but within 2 days she didn't ask again.
