My DS is 7 weeks old. I am having a very hard time with wake windows. After a nap he will be up for a very long time, like teo hours or more, before he goes to sleep again. Recommended wake window dor his age is 60 mimutes. How do I get him to sleep in that time frame? I lay him in his crib and he will lay there happily for hour or more before he passes out. I have tried rocking him but he wakes when I put him down and then will take long time to fall asleep. He only does this during day. Any help appreciated!

Follow his lead. If he's generally happy and alert whilst he's awake, feeding well and putting on weight, he's probably getting the sleep that he needs. Wake windows are averages for a given age – some babies have longer ones, some shorter. (DD was a long wake window/low total sleep baby. She's two now, bright as a button, but still doesn't sleep 12 hours overnight.)

Is he happily awake for that time? Or is he grumpy and over tired?

If hes happily awake it just might be that you have an awake baby who isnt very sleepy! Thats ok, they're all different!

My midwife said the wake window for 4 - 8 week olds was 45 - 120 minutes, but that they’re averages, so it doesn’t matter if you’re just outside of that. It sounds like he’s bang on the longer end! If he’s happy and alert, he’s probably fine Flowers
