Rocking to sleep

Hi, my little one is 15 weeks old and is rocked to sleep for all naps/night sleep. He is becoming a bit of a lump so I'm keen to move on from this. During the night he is able to self soothe after his feed but just can't go to sleep during the day on his own. Anyone any idea how we stop? I asked the HV and she said just stop🤷🏻‍♀️But he literally screams his head of of you stop rocking. I'm not going to do cry it out but would like to stop. He also doesn't take a dummy.
Thanks

There is a process called ‘habit stacking’ which is helpful for this. You basically layer new sleep associations with the old until you can phase out the old. It’s a slow process but gentle and doesn’t involve crying.

We went with popping DS down and just left the room, with white noise on.
When got upset we went back in and ssshhh'd him and put our hand on his tummy or head. We didn't pick him up and cuddle him unless he got really distressed. We never talk to him either.
He's been going down and settling himself now since he was 6 months old (he's now 1)
Thankfully this method worked for us. Hope you get it sorted 🤞
