My DD has been in a single bed since the summer and has had a 4.5 tog but now its getting colder i feel she needs something warmer but I know they shouldn't have the same tog as adults, is a 7 tog ok?! Shes in a single bed not a cot bed.

We all have 4.5 all year, with a blanket over the top if it’s very cold. At 3, she’ll probably kick it off anyway.

She actually never kicks it off! My son always did.

My 4yo has a 4.5 tog duvet which we use all year round. He's always hot so doesn't usually keep it on him anyway.

I thought you weren't supposed to go over a tog 4 but some sources say a 7 is fine. My 4 year old has a tog 4 and a fleece throw on top as it's lighter.
Here's the top two answers from Google when I asked so I guess the guidance isn't clear on this.

"The most important thing to remember is that younger children can't regulate their own body temperature and can easily overheat. So don't go higher than the recommended 4.0 tog."

"Ideally, to keep your little one comfortable and safe, have a 4.5 tog duvet for the summer, and a 7 tog / 7.5 tog duvet in the winter. "

Could keep the 4tog and add a vest/socks?

My nearly 4 year old definitely needs more than 4.5 tog. I thought that was for kids in cotbeds rather than a full size single? He loves being cosy at night or else he doesn't sleep well, and I don't like having the heating on high all night. I'm about to buy him a 9 or 10 tog for winter.

4.5tog is the maximum recommended tog for a child in a single bed.

If they were in a double bed they could have a higher tog; something to do with the relative size of the child compared to the size of the bed.

My 2 tend to have 4.5tog just about year round (age 15 and 18). Dh and I change up to a 10.5tog at some point but haven't done so yet. Heating off overnight

Hmm odd I read up to 7.5 is fine for single! Confusing!
