Cheapest or easiest name labels? Online or which shop?

Baby starting nursery soon and I need to label everything. I’ve had a look online using google and have had some expensive (but cute!) options come up.

What’s the easiest or cheapest thing to do?

I have a lot of shops near me in retail parks like Home Bargains, B&M, TK Maxx, Primark, as well as all the big supermarket names, but I don’t want to go trawling, especially with fuel crisis, so thought I’d start a post here see if someone has the wisdom!

If I do order online, should I do it with baby’s full name or just surname so I can reuse for subsequent kids? That’s probably me overthinking it.

Thank you in advance.

I've used Tiny Me labels for years, they're fab.

BakeOffRewatch · 03/10/2021 20:56

Oh and should I get sew-in, stick-on or iron-on?

I love stamptastic. You can get it with the surname only and then reuse in future. I got mine two and a half years ago and it still works amazingly and is easy to use.

I second stamptastic. Mine is still going strong 4 years later.

Stamptastic

Stick Ins, amazing!

Princesspickle777 · 03/10/2021 21:14

Stikins are amazing!

icklekid · 03/10/2021 21:15

Yes used stikins- easier than iron on and stay stuck really well www.stikins.co.uk/

BakeOffRewatch · 03/10/2021 21:25

Wow stikins are really cheap too, 13p each!

Baby is a baby so the clothes don’t have a “name” space so stamptastic wouldn’t be suitable, but definitely remembering for future!

Thank you for the tinyme recommendation but they seem pricey too and I’m really put off by how gendered their style names are, “oh boy” for planes and trucks.

This is the cute one I found, they do a nursery starter pack with shoe labels but it works out about 21p a sticker. www.petit-fernand.co.uk/personalised-baby-name-labels-for-nursery . I love the design but the costs are snowballing for spare clothes, nursery fees, shoes, and I need to cut costs where I can!

Looks like I’ll go with stikins based on current suggestions - still keen to hear others, especially in store ones. When I was a kid we ordered woven ones through school that were sewn in to our clothes.

Get a Dymo letra tag. Then you can get tape for iron on, paper, plastic tape. So covers it all.
And you can use it for labelling stuff around the house.

Top tip for Stikins.

Make line 1 and 2 identical

Eg

J Smith
J Smith

Then you can cut each one in half.... Double the amount of stickers 😁

I’ve got Stamptastic for DS who is 9 months & at nursery. I tend to stamp on the care label and have just done surname.

SydneyCarton · 03/10/2021 21:42

@00100001 That is genius!

I found the stick in labels from Woven Labels (confusingly) to be very good. I have three children so went for surname only (fortunately it’s quite an unusual one) plus my phone number if it goes home with the wrong child. I did get some iron on ones from Able Labels but found they all fell off quite quickly Confused

Amazing. Exactly the kind of thing I started this thread for.

I’m looking up every suggestion, thank you everyone.

I bought a Stamptastic this year. My eldest dc is going into year 7. I wish I'd bought one when they first started school as they're amazing.

MustDust · 03/10/2021 21:49

The cheapest and easiest option is sharpie. But I after many years of doing this I've got stikins and stamptastic combo, both last ages.

Fizbosshoes · 03/10/2021 21:50

Another vote for stikins. You can put on shoes bags and water bottles as well as clothes

TrampolineForMrKite · 03/10/2021 21:50

petit-fernand.co.uk are brilliant and don’t fall off even in the drier.

NameChange30 · 03/10/2021 21:53

Stikins and Stamptastic, get both.

Atalune · 03/10/2021 21:55

Stokins

We have an unusual surname too so we just use that and omit the first name for the kids. Very economical.

Cornishmumofone · 03/10/2021 21:55

I put my phone number on the second line and then use them on treasured soft toys. I've had a couple returned that way.

JoborPlay · 03/10/2021 21:57

Another vote for tinyme stick ons. Just surname

Do NOT do this.

Made the mistake of taking this advice and now I have stickers that, when cut in half, don’t stick properly because they’re too small and also look really stupid because the top has straight lines and the bottom curved lines.

(I came onto this thread just in case anyone was offering this stupid advice just so I could say noooooooooooooooo don’t do it 😩)

Blueuggboots · 03/10/2021 22:09

Petit fernand are great. You can have your choice of size, colour, font, type, shape.

careerchangeperhaps · 03/10/2021 22:09

Stamptastic - just stamp on the care label or the neckline of the clothes if a pale enough colour. The ink doesn't bleed through and is really neat and fine. You don't need a proper 'name label' space.
