Nappy changes

How often do you/ did you change your baby?
I'm talking around the 10-13 week mark.
I found when DS was a new newborn I would change his nappy every time he woke, then feed, sleep and repeat. But now he has more awake time and a lot less naps, I don't know whether to disturb his play sometimes for a nappy change, wait until he's uncomfy or still try and follow a two hour ish pattern.
If DS does a poo I always change it straight away when I hear it/ smell it/ notice it, however how long would you leave just a wet nappy? He never seems to be uncomfy from it and can go 5hrs sometimes at night but I've not been going that long in the day just in case

Disposable nappies are good at keeping their bums very dry so I wouldn’t worry about doing it too often.

He shouldn't be awake for a more than two hours at his age anyway so nappy change after nap then before should be OK.

DS only naps one good nap in the day at most and then the rest are 10 min cat naps after BF. Have spoken to HV about this but they say he's just one of those babies who can go on less sleep. That's why I've found myself having less of a routine with the nappy changes

The midwife told me 6 hours if no poo, since modern nappies are so good. We never got any irritation.

I'd still persist in napping after every 45 mins to hour and a half as it's probably just a sleep regression and will pass. Use Huckleberry app xx

We still persist with nappy but unfortunately he prefers chatting and attempting to roll over! He's never cranky from not napping which is good so it's not a massive concern when he does drop a nap! Just means I'm extra tired rather than him! Hahah

Ds is 17months. We still change at least every 3 hrs. I don’t think it’s very nice to be left in hours old wee even if the nappy absorbs ( we use washable). Night nappy he’s in around 11-12hrs.

Obviously he gets changed more if poops, and I change before nap or bedtime so some nappies on not as long.

I change usually after every feed - approx 3.5 hours in the day. You’ll know if you’re not changing it enough because the nappy will get really full and heavy and leak. I would leave it a while to see how long it takes for that to happen and then you’ll have a better idea of how long it would be comfortable to leave it for.

We were getting through up to 20 nappies a day at that stage! Using brand-name nappies, but DD couldn't stand even a tiny bit of wee! And we didn't change her during the night, so it was more like 20 nappies in 14 hours. She's now 4 months and much less expensive fussy.
