Getting rid of dummy & 18 months

My Daughter is 18 months old and a bit dummy mad. She asks for it all day and often needs to have one in the mouth and hold 2 more. It's getting a bit much so we would like to get her off the dummy.

She's a bit of a nuts baby and I imagine this will set off a lot of tantrums and crying.

What is the best way to go about it? Is going cold Turkey and throwing them all away a bit cruel?

I could attempt to get rid of it in the day but not at night etc but I'm worried as she goes to nursery and 2 of her Grandmothers look after her in the week so making sure that everyone sticks to the no dummy in the day thing while there are dummies in the house is unlikely.

I have a week booked off soon so what is the best way to go about it in that week??

I was quite lucky as ds just suddenly gave his dummies up at 18 months. I was going to do gradual withdrawal so times during the day when he was busy doing other things I would just not make any available, stretch the times out until it’s only for the nap. Once they are 2.5 years old the are very easy to bribe so give up the dummy for a special toy they want. Bribery is great for everything at that age!
