One hour of downtime ideas?

There is a one hour difference in montisorri end time and school pick up time for a whole year.

What would you do in the hour with a 4 year old? He is not into walking even in good weather. Traffic can be unpredictable around the school and I obviously can't risk being late for pick up

Quick trip to the nearest play park.
Sit in the car and read or listen to an audio story and have a snack.
Do a quick shop for dinner and let him help choose veg etc
Find a cafe and have a hot chocolate and do some colouring in
Play Snap or a similar simple game in the car together
Practise kicking a football around.
Practise scooter
Practise bike with stabilisers
Instead of 'going for a walk' look at nature. Study snails and spiders webs and puddles and leaves and conkers etc.
Sing songs together
Feed ducks at a nearby pond or river if there is one
Go to the woods and build a den or look for mushrooms
Or if you are in a city, go to a pet shop or toy shop etc.

Vary it depending on how he is feeling and what the weather is like.

@leavesthataregreen those are some really nice ideas. There is actually a little wood 5 mins away

Is there a library nearby?

Use chalk to draw a hopscotch on a very quiet paved area (unused corner of the car park)
Fly a kit in windy weather on a nearby playing field.
When it’s NOT windy, blow bubbles for him to catch
Stomp rocket
Giant jenga
