I have always worked at least part time (at least 25 hours a week, in work everyday) but I have moved to a new town with my DP and currently don't have a job.

My DD1 is at school, and DD2 is in nursery for 2.5 days, so now I am a bit stuck. Feel free to either LOL or politely titter behind your hands, but WHAT do I do with my 4yo all day when she is not at nursery?

I know this is pathetic, but I could genuinely do with some advice.

I know you are all kind so please help

Join your local library and take her there - my DS loves this.

Do you know any of the other parents at her nursery - could you get together for social meet ups?

What about swimming, or sports groups?

Get her to help you with stuff around the house.

Or you could switch on the TV for her and spend all day on MN

We have only just moved here, am trying to make friends with nursery mums but don't want to seem pushy, so am taking it slowly.

Library a fab idea, thanks, hadn't thought of that will go and join this afternoon.

Swimming a bit of a problem as the chlorine aggravates her excema, but she does love it, thanks again

Oh well theres a question?

  • Toddler groups although check they have other 4 yo as she is getting to the top of the age range.
  • Swimming
  • Going to the park
  • Trips to the library - sometimes they have story telling session
  • Music groups
  • Art groups
  • Tumbletots
  • Playbarns and soft play areas

Do some arty stuff together - make Christmas decorations this time of year.

Play the kind of games together that DD1 doesn't like but DD2 does

Do the cleaning together if your DD feels like helping.

Do some gardening together.

The time does tend to fly though as the school day isn't that long after you have gone backward and forwards and had some lunch!

Am in a similar situation. Another good way of meeting other mums is to join a pre-school music group or something similar, if you can bear it!

another vote for the library, toddler groups, do they have a childrens information service they will have list of all preschool activities in your area.
