Norovirus - is baby still at risk?

Hi!

My 10 month old DD was sick a few days ago (Wednesday) several times in the car - I thought due to car sickness and seemed perky and happy the next day.

The following evening (Thursday) I came down with body aches , nausea and an upset stomach. DH was vomiting the next day (Friday) , DD has had a few bouts of diarrhoea and unfortunately we have DH sister visiting and she had severe vomiting Friday night (tonight) .

So now we clearly assume Norovirus my plan is to thoroughly clean house, wash bedsheets and bathrooms etc… is baby at risk of catching it again as it is still in the house or is she immune for a while? Can norovirus keep circulating within the household? Should I keep DH sister in her bedroom while she has it or will we be immune because we have had it/have it in our systems?

Grateful for any advice! Xx

If it's the same bug it shouldn't go through you more than once (no pun intended!).
If you BF DD keep doing so, if not keep her hydrated well any way you can.
I would encourage SIL to stay in the room as much as possible, toprevent more spread of germs than anything - not that you're likely to catch it again, but it's better to keep it contained IMO.
Wishing you all a speedy recovery Thanks

DD (2) has just thrown up everywhere, this is the 3rd weekend in a row. She has been fine in between each bout so I can only put it down to having picked up 3 different bugs at nursery. I think it's just a horrible year for tummy bugs.

Thank you! Will try and get lots of fluids in today! Hopefully we’re all over the worst of it now xx

You develop short term immunity from noro.. it doesn’t last long but they think about 3 months. But not all stomach bugs are norovirus. That’s just one of them (& the really nasty one).

It’s worth noting than following a sick bug, children can become a bit intolerant to diary & continue to throw up after eating it. We’ve had it a few times now & had to cut out dairy completely for 7-10 days post vomiting. The first time this happened with DD, we were really confused as to why she kept vomiting when she seemed well inbetween. Our GP told us about the dairy thing & we stopped milk & yoghurts and sure enough, the vomiting stopped! I’ve attached a bit of info as to why!
