9 months and not that into solids

Ok. Every baby is different. Gotcha. Food before one is just for fun. Yup yup yup.

She's approaching 9 months. Been weaning since 6m. We've had a bit of a battle with it due to allergies/intolerances (paediatrics and dietician appointments coming up for this)...just gets rashes after a lot of foods. Very odd - but that's another story.

I'm here to find you other mummies with similar ages and older who aren't that fussed with food?! Like tiny appetite.

She's 9th percentile and always has been. So small and slender. 15lb 5 at 8m. Eats food. A good few spoons...a few finger foods. And she's done.

Greek yogurt she'll eat till she's sick (yup that happened).

I just wanna "connect" with those who had or are having a similar experience! And those who have babas uninterested in solids...how are they sleeping?

I want to hear of those suffering too primarily Blush to make me feel ok

👋🏻 my baby is 11 months / nearly 10 months corrected. She weighed 16.5lbs. Has had a very very slow start to weaning. Has had growth issues and was placed on high cal formula which was very filling and stalled weaning even more. Due to other health issues she is under speech and language and a dietician who recently suggested dropping her 11am bottle. That and the start of nursery two weeks ago and she is now starting to be more interested and is accepting about 8 spoons and enjoying finger food. She's on three meals a day but not finishing any of them.

I'm not going to lie. It's been stressful and I have worried about it a lot but my baby has a tendency of doing things at her own pace and seems to always finally 'get there' with many things just before the professionals start to intervene

Hi,

My DD is almost 9 MO & is quite big - 8.3 lb at birth and now on 98th centile BUT doesn't really eat meals.

Like PP, she is on 3 meals a day but doesn't finish them & I don't even offer a lot.

Breakfast - variations on porridge, muesli & toast - she will have a few mouthfuls and nibbles of the finger food stuff and that's it.

Lunch - worst meal of them all, again nibbles and that's it

Dinner - same again, offer loads of different purées and finger foods. She will eat a bit if I pull out every trick in the book - alternate with a sweet purée, play games with her until she opens up and stick the spoon in.

Ultimately if I didn't offer her food, she wouldn't be bothered at all and I think she'd happily survive on milk.

I too hate all of the "every kid is different" "food before one" because you see the majority of babies happily eating yet yours just won't do it!

I'm wondering whether I need to be dropping more milk feeds to make her hungrier for the food?

God knows.

Just re-read your post about the yoghurt!! How weird mine is the same - and one of my tricks. When she stops eating breakfast, out comes the dairy free Greek yog. I wonder if it's something to do with the texture and temp of it.

At first, I thought there was a physical issue with her not being able to open her mouth as she has mild tongue tie, that's how much she refused!

Then when I saw how wide she would open for the things she actually wanted I knew it was just a scam.

Ah yes see! Lady at my baby group has same age little one and is like oh I've dropped all milk feeds because she isn't interested. Mine would starve without milk! I am transitioning from breast milk to formula hoping that may have made a difference but meh.

I will raise with dietician next week when I go to discuss her "allergies". Just needed to hear more people with uninterested babies to be honest as I don't know any that aren't gannets with food! And nice to hear different percentiles too!

Haha yea green yogurt! See I wondered if she didn't like cold food much because it's obviously always cold within mins of making it. But seeing as she'd go to town on yogurt that can't be an issue!

She's always been interested. Doesn't point blank refuse just seems to get full so quickly. But so many foods leave her with a nasty rash around her mouth and chin that I wondered if she got a bit put off by that. Who knows!!!

I have a 17 month old, I started weaning at 5 months (under the guidance of his SaLT) and not one piece of food passed his tonsils until he was 11, almost 12, months old. Now he eats everything that we eat but only things he can feed himself, he will not let anyone feed him. if someone had told me at 9 months that he would be eating, and enjoying, solids by the time he was 15 months old I would've laughed at them but he is.

I used to joke that I should just cut out the middleman and lob his food on the floor myself I spent that much time picking up the tasty morsels I offered him

This is hilarious. Mine does the same, off the side of the tray it goes & she stares down at it wondering what's happened! When she knows she's tossed it off the side haha.

I just keep offering in the hope that one day she will eat a decent amount. One thing is certain though, offer her any type of fruit and she will scoff it.

Mine is almost 11 months and is hardly interested in food either. She started off great with weaning, then she began rejecting the spoon. First at dinner, then at breakfast. So now we’re only doing finger foods and the odd yoghurt here and there that she won’t mind us giving her. Some days are better than others. She ate a lot of pasta yesterday and I was genuinely shocked. She’s quite big for her age too, no idea how because her milk feeds have also reduced Hmm
