What would you say is the best sport for boys?

I'm thinking of putting my nearly four year old into something.
What do people recommend, I am thinking maybe tennis?
Tennis? Rugby? Cricket? Football?

I always liked/thought my sons would do rugby but I feel like it's maybe too dangerous/too many injuries...

@TintinIsBack

NOT football unless you are happy to spend. many hours outside in the rain. I know many parents who bought a special coat just for that.
I couldn't think of anything worse to do. So glad my boys can't stand the sport😂

I wouldn’t bother with regular swimming lessons at 4. It’s a major waste of time. They make very little progress at that age and you will lose the will to live. 6 is a better age to start, it’s a life skill they need to learn but it’s tedious. And I wouldn’t encourage as their major hobby.
I found DC really took it seriously aged 8+.

Dance? The poise and flexibility lasts a lifetime.

My 6yo DS has started gymnastics and that starts at 4, it's a good mix of high energy, discipline and fun. He also did singing/dancing/theatre which is good at getting them to use up some energy but also develop their confidence at speaking out etc

Depends on the boy what does he like what has he shown an interest in, also depends what is available and well ran in your area.

I recommend trying as many taster sessions for different sports as possible and seeing what sticks. In our area pre covid they had open days organised in parks or sports halls where loads of different clubs would do demos and allow the little ones to try things out. Another option is sports camps in the holidays where you go each morning and do different sports. We discovered a love of badminton and indoor climbing through one of these-neither sports were really on our radar before.
