What does your day look like?

I have an 8 week old and feel like I need to start trying to get some form of routine to our days (although his feeding schedule is still a bit hectic).

What does your day look like with a little one?

I'd start by writing down when baby tends to nap and feed to see if there is anything that looks like a a natural rhythm there. Then start with a walk each day.

14 week old here
Zero routine and she's FF.
The only routine I have is making sure she is fed before school runs for my five year old.

My baby only really fell into a routine at about 5 mo.

Before that I concentrated on wake periods and feeding, and if I could get out for a walk inbetween.

Bit hard to have a routine at that age. I just made sure she napped regularly and fed every 2.5-3 hours - didn’t have set times, just followed her lead. Got into a routine around 6 months when she became more predictable.

My DD also wouldn’t nap unless in the pram so went several walks a day!

I'll get skates but GF for my twins all the way, it followed through the routine that was established in hospital, saved my sanity. Ff though, and they had to be woken to feed.

At 8 weeks all we did at a set time was open the blinds at 7am. I would get showered and out for a pram walk as early as possible ( maybe lunchtime!). And we bathed baby after 6pm when she wasn't feeding or sleeping.

Thanks everyone. Really reassuring that at this age not everyone is in a routine. I just find the mornings disappear and I’m still in my dressing gown!

My first DS had a bottle every 4 hours on the dot. So it was easy to make a routine.

My second DS fed whenever he was hungry - maybe 2 to 3 hours from the last feed, so we didnt have a set routine. I used to just make plans for straight after his feed. I never knew what time that would be, I just had to be ready to go.

My DS is 24 weeks old and we still aren't in a routine. I just let him lead the day and I keep an eye on his wake windows and put him down for a nap when he gets grumpy haha. Some days he has 2 big naps like yesterday, some days I get 4 x half hour naps. The only thing that stays the same is school drop off and pick up on weekdays for his older siblings. Just go with the flow and enjoy your little one 😍
