When to worry about childs illness?

Went out for tea last night, fairly sure me and DD1 (20 months old) have food poisoning. I'm okay however she has not held down any liquid since 8pm, anytime we try it comes straight back out either end.
At what point do i need to worry? Her nappy last night was rather dry and she's been incredibly clingy. Absolutely awful seeing her like this!

You need to try and get some liquids into her and watch the nappies. Don’t worry about food at this stage - just try and keep her hydrated. Just sips to start with. I can’t remember the guidelines of how long you can have dry nappies before seeking advice but I think the NHS website has good advice from memory. Hope they are feeling better soon - they are generally resilient little things.

You could try the rehydration sachets from the chemist. And it is awful seeing them poorly but try and look after yourself too.

If she can't keep water down maybe try a lolly ice?

Actually that is a great suggestion . I can remember one of mine chain eating ice pops and perking right up as a result

Ice lollies and cucumber if they can manage it

My DS would often have stomach bugs due to an autoimmune issue and if he wouldnt drink or keep it down, then syringing 5mls every 5 mins was the advice in A&E.

Keep an eye on nappies, 8 hours without a wet nappy you need seek advice. Don't be afraid to go to A&E if you are worried. I spent so much time in A&E/hospital for rehydration and was always welcome.

Thanks everyone. Ice lollies worked a treat and she's perked up a bit!

Yay! So pleased to hear.

Watermelon always goes down well when my DS is poorly.

Sloppy jelly made with extra water really helps. It is cool and slides down with a bit of sugar for energy .

Dioralyte would be a good idea, syringe it into her if she won’t drink it or you can mix with juice - you could turn it into an ice lolly! As others have said, never be afraid to pop to the hospital if you’re worried, dehydration can come on quickly and be very nasty when they’re tiny
