Scratching and Eczema

Hi, just wondering if anyone has been through similar and got any advice/tips?

My 7 month old has severe eczema which thankfully after 3 weeks of being on aptamil pepti and being dairy free has started to improve. He is still scratching a lot and I'm not sure if it's now partly out of habit. We have scratch sleeves for when he is asleep and in the car but I don't want to have him in these all the time! He is off to nursery soon and I'm so worried how he will do when someone isnt watching him 100% all day to stop him.

Any tips?

Thanks a lot

If it's only been 3 weeks, it could still take time for the dairy to get out of his system.

Has he been referred to the Allergy Clinic a abs a Paediatric Dietitian?

I'm in the same position with my little one. We use scratch mitts at night. He tends to itch around his neck so I keep a bandana bib on him during the day. Trying baby aveeno dermexa currently and plastering this on about 4 or 5 times a day. So we'll see if that helps. The allergy nurse advised us to use the cream as much as we can in the day.

My advice if you are using creams is not to use multiple creams at once of if you do use them consistently on different parts of the body. My DS has an oat allergy so using aveeno can make things a lot worse and we wouldn't realise if we'd used it all over, but if we only used it on one half of his body we'd know it was causing a problem.

Have you ruled put Dustmite allergy as well?

It might be worth washing her bedding and towels at 60 abs giving her room a good Hoover including the mattress and curtains. You can also freeze soft toys to kill dust mites.

I have a couple of allergies including CMPA and doing all of the above definitely helps me Smile
