In-laws dogs have worms, help!

We’re staying with my husbands parents this week with our toddler and 4 month old. They’ve got 2 dogs that are a bit old and I wouldn’t say are looked after that well but I don’t mind dogs and I think good for children to be around them and play etc. Anyway, lovely day today outside playing with baby and on the floor in the living room etc. He’s just learnt to roll and face planted the floor and few times, obviously licking it in the process. Also hands in his mouth all the time, standard baby and toddler things. Then this aft MIL told me before we’d arrived the dogs had been using the bed we’re on for their bed and she’d noticed it was covered in worms 🤢. The dogs were dewormed this morning but now I’m so worried that both children have picked up a horrible worm infection. I feel like the house is probably riddled with worm eggs and it’s made me really upset esp because I didn’t even think of that as a possibility today. Anyone know what is next step? Wait and see?

🤮

I don’t think I could stay. Please tell me she changed the bed before you arrived?

Ewww

She did change the bed yeah and clearly vacuumed in that room but living room hadn’t been vacuumed. Am I wrong to be annoyed about not being told? The more I read online the more scared I am that the children are going to get worm eggs in their organs 😧

You could ask the pharmacist for advice, although they will likely refer you to the gp due to the children's age. It might be possible to take dewormers as a precaution.

Phone a vet and ask about risks.

Was the little one on a blanket or baby mat or straight on the un-vacuumed carpet? I think I'd be leaving. Not to vacuum in that situation when a baby is visiting just sounds rank. And yes they should have warned you - worms on the bed, really? Ewwwwww.
