Temperature for a couple of days

Hi, my 3 yo has had a temperature for the past 24 hours or so which comes down quickly with neurofen/Calpol. He's presenting no other symptoms other than being off his food. He's ok between spikes but dips when it rises. In my experience there's always been a symptom to indicate where the infection is coming from e.g cough/snot! Anyone else experienced this? Thank you x

I wonder what bowel movements have been like?

Little one needs a PCR test to rule out Covid. Fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about. Plenty of bugs around at the moment but best to be safe.

We've all had a viral thing that seems similar to Covid (all had negative PCR tests multiple times over the last 2 weeks), all kids have had temperatures on and off for a a week, endless snot, nasty coughs and intermittent upset stomachs

We have literally just had this too. Only symptom was a temperature and it lasted 48 hours. No ear infection, cough, runny nose etc. Nursery made us do a PCR test which was negative. And nappies were normal just off his food. It hasn't turned into anything else and today he's absolutely fine and running around like normal.

Bowl movements are completely normal, he's home from childminders until Thursday, did a LFT today which was negative. No snot/cough/sick/rash just a lack of appetite. Yesterday he spent the afternoon on the sofa and asleep by 6 (totally unheard of), today he's much brighter and still awake as I type chatting away to soft toys. Temperature stayed down for a good 7-8 hours today before spiking upto 38 ish before bed!

Please don’t send him back to the childminders without a negative PCR test. Lateral flows aren’t accurate enough, which is why it has to be a PCR when displaying symptoms. A lot of people are testing positive on PCRs but negative on lateral flows. It’s most likely to be a normal kids bug but it really is better to be safe and get properly tested so he doesn’t infect potentially vulnerable families at the childminders. If PCR is negative, I’d advice speaking to a gp incase it’s an ear infection or something similar.

I'm taking him to the test centre in the morning, he's isolated with me all day :)

Hope your little one feels better soonSmile

Could be a UTI if no other symptoms, could ring gp and ask for his wee to be checked x
