Presents for DS's first birthday

It is my DS's first birthday soon. He has every single wooden toy imaginable - blocks, cars, a hammer bench, musical instruments, puzzles, stacking rings, shape sorters, a walker etc. He plays with these very little as I don't think he's old enough to appreciate them yet. He also has lots of books and a few electronic toys, most of which he is afraid of.

I am therefore at a loss as to what to get him for his birthday (and Christmas!), and what to tell his grandparents to get him (they've asked). One thing I did think of is a Yoto Player, which he can grow into. Maybe a play tent.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!

You don't actually have to get him anything! He's one. He won't know it's his birthday, or that you didn't get him a present.
You could put whatever amount of money you would have spent on a tangible present into a savings account, premium bonds etc which he can then spend when he's older.

Playdoh
Crayola washable pens
Colouring books
Bubble bath

My DS1 had 3 rubber ducks, individually wrapped, it took him the whole of his first Christmas Day to unwrap them! (He was 6 months old).

For both their first Birthdays, I mostly found some things that they already had (but had forgotten about) and wrapped them up! I told all the grandparents etc to get a little something and put some money away into their savings (if they wanted).

Both of mine were most excited about the paper, people and (obviously healthy) cake.

Oooh yes, bubbles were a great hit and bath toys, which often need changing.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I could wrap up something he already has but I think his grandparents will probably insist on getting him something. I'll have a look at bath toys and crayons. He does already have some bath toys but, as you say, they're easy to swap around.

Garden toys. Swing or slide or a pool or some balls. Sandpit.

@Aroundtheworldin80moves Unfortunately we won't have a garden until next year! But they might make great presents for his second birthday.

Annual pass for some where? Aqua doodle, swim classes

Thanks for all your suggestions! I think we're decided on a pikler triangle and slide for one gift, and I'm looking into the other options suggested Smile

For my son's first birthday he got a rocking horse which he likes and will grow into. Also lots and lots of toys that light up and make sounds!
