I have a 16 month old and a 2 month old, I'm obviously still on maternity leave and won't be returning to work till well into the new year.

I absolutely love the autumn/ prechristmas winter season and would love to be out and about with the kids. What do you do with your young kids once the weather turns lovely and cold?? 😁

Lots of baking, Christmas cake, gingerbread decorating, visits to national trust places, walks on the beach, walks in the woods, crafting, pumpkin picking, ice skating, charity shop rummages, friends around, bike rides through the autumn leaves, and then hot chocolate and marshmallows by the fire when we get back.

Nothing changes for us except the type of clothing we wear and maybe how long we are out for
My dc are 5 and 8 but we always did similar activities
We still;
Walk/hike in mountains/forests/beaches
Cycle on bicycle routes
Swim (in the sea)
Kayak in the sea/lakes (obviously only in calm/clear weather!)
Visit historical places/gardens/woodlands etc
Play in the garden

But they are also in school and have after school activities so we do have less time to fill.

I’d say soft play

DD is 2, my plans include;

Shopping for Halloween and the Christmas decorations, weekly playgroup, a weekly play date, farm trip/soft play/trampoline park, swimming, lunch out, get wrapped up and go to the park, nice autumnal walk collecting pine cones to make decorations, movie afternoons, food shop, colouring, indoor golf and bowling, water play, baking and I work two days a week too so that’s 2 full days covered.

I bought that 5 minute mum book too in lockdown but haven’t opened it yet so I might try some of her things out too

This sounds so dreamy, I'm suddenly very excited for autumn and winter! Grin

BlackBerry picking and making crumbles. Collecting conkers and making patterns. Pumpkin carving.

More soft play than parks- cafe visits to warm up mid park

Genuine question but isn’t pumpkin carving just you carving a pumpkin infront of young kids?

We do go to the pumpkin patch but I couldn’t do it with two little kids by myself

The 16 month old might enjoy picking leaves up when you're out fir a walk abs then trying leaf painting (with a bit of help) later in the day.
