First post here 😊
So on tue I had a scan to check baby growth (32 weeks)
I was told blood flow from cord/placenta was restricted. Also baby had went from sitting on the 50th centile to the 10th centile from last scan which was 4weeks prior.
Baby seems happy. But measuring at 3lb 2.5oz
I have been booked in for a c section on 25th oct due to 2 prev c sections I’ll be 38.6weeks.
Just unsure weather they will take me in even earlier.
Cord check scan tue coming and growth scan week after 😫

I had the same problem, picked up at a 27 week growth scan as belly was measuring small. I had Doppler scans twice a week and growth scans fortnightly - one day the levels were normal, other days they were high. Baby was measuring on the 5th centile.

They planned to induce me at 37 weeks but at 34 weeks baby’s growth all but stopped and blood flow to baby’s brain was dropping so I was given steroid injections and induced at 35+5. Baby was born at 36 weeks weighing 3lb 9oz (34 week scan estimated 4lb 2oz) so was even smaller than they thought she’d be. She didn’t need any help with breathing, she only had to spend a week in the NNU to make sure she was gaining weight and to establish feeding.

She’s 16 months old now and weighs 21lbs - still tiny but I guess that’s the way she was meant to be!

I had a very similar experience to the previous poster. Picked up at 30 weeks due to reduced movement. Doppler scans twice a week and growth scan at 32 weeks. By 34 her growth had stopped and her movements still reduced so she was delivered by c section ad 35 weeks after 5 days monitoring as an in patient in hospital. She spent 10 days on special care. Again not for breathing issues but she weighed 4lbs and needs to be tube fed until she was strong enough to learn to suck

Hi op,
So sorry you have this worry. I don’t have exactly the same experience but I lost my first baby to stillbirth (reason unknown) so I had many, many Doppler and growth scans in my subsequent pregnancy. The important thing is this has been picked up so they are keeping a really close eye on you. They will be checking the PI of the cord, they will want to get you at close to your section date as possible but it will depend on those measurements, I would imagine that as long as flow stays positive they will try and get you to that date. I’m sure they’ve reinforced this with you but you must be absolutely on it with movements, I would recommend getting a movement band from kicks count to help you get to know baby’s pattern. Any concerns - go in straight away. If you’re having to get baby to move using cold drinks, pokes etc, then that is still reduced movement and needs checking.
I’ve known lots of women who had issues with cord flow and they’re absolutely fine with close monitoring, it’s where it isn’t picked up and then baby goes overdue where the biggest issues are, so be vigilant but try not to panic. Tommy’s is a really good website for info about the placenta and movements xx

Thankyou all for you reply’s. I always have problems with baby’s growths but not as small as this baby moving fine I give a poke if worried he isn’t moving.
Just the not knowing that’s stressing me and the days are getting longer as scan day comes 💕

Ladies, I'm in a similar situation, at 31weeks blood flow issues were confirmed and baby's weight dropped from 50 centile to 10 centile.

Question. Has any of you got any medication or injection to thin the blood and help with the blood flow?

Fredsgirl19 · 29/11/2021 20:33

I didn't but I had 3 months of blood thinning injections after I gave birth for an unrelated pregnancy complication. Seems like a good idea though

Poppy709 · 29/11/2021 21:21

Yes, in my subsequent pregnancy after my daughter was stillborn I had blood thinning injections, do you have a consultant you can discuss this with? Sending you a big hug and a handhold, like I said above most important thing is baby is being monitored xxx
