I’ve had a really rough breastfeeding journey starting with baby struggling to latch for the first 1/2 weeks. Latch improved and for a week or so everything was going well but now I can’t seem to get baby to stay latched on and he seems to have really uncomfortable gas. He’s now 5 weeks old and is gaining weight (health visitor said he’s put on 22 oz in just 2 weeks). But I can’t shake the feeling that somethings wrong, some days he won’t feed for longer than 5 minutes at a time and even then he pulls off alot, screaming at my breast and my milk is spraying everywhere.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? I can’t understand what went wrong :(

Have you tried giving him a little infacol before feeding? If you're on Facebook have a look at la leche league. They can private video call you to help with latch and give amazing advice

Sounds like tongue tie OP. I'd get that looked at by someone properly qualified ( NOT a HV or midwife as they often miss them)

It could be a fast let down, try hand expressing into a muslin until your let down slows, then latch baby on. This often settles once your supply settles down a bit (6-8 weeks).

Sounds like overactive let down if your milk is spraying everywhere. It's a serious pain in the bum as it does cause upset for little ones feeding. I had this with my first and it settled down after a few months (yes, months!). Could also be tongue tie as others have suggested.

I agree it sounds like your let down is too fast for him, try expressing some milk off before you latch him.
