Combination feeding (breast and formula)

Without giving my reasons... I'm combination feeding. Usually formula comes into play once in the evening and early morning. Worried I may be feeding baby too much with this approach?

Going to try little and often from now on with the bottles.

Sometimes I wonder if she takes the bottle even if she's not hungry or for comfort (she cries all evening)

Just be good to get people's experience!

I combi fed for a few months as my supply was low after an illness. I let my baby feed on me first for every feed and when she was done I gave her the bottle of formula.

I really don’t think it’s possible to overfeed a baby. They have it inbuilt within them to stop when full, they won’t take what they don’t need. I really would feed until they stop.

I’m not sure how old your baby is but I’m guessing quite young? They feed so much in those early weeks. Just be led by them and feed on demand

I forgot to say, I don’t think it would be the case that they were taking the bottle for comfort, so you’re doing the right thing offering it Smile

Ah thanks @amidsummernightsdream that's reassuring

She's nearly 5 weeks, and she's quite big already, weighs over 11lbs.

She's a hungry girl!!

We are combi feeding after my baby was in nicu / scbu and we struggled to get ebf off to a good start. Dd is 11 weeks old - she gets 30-45mins on the breast followed by 50-70ml of formula 7-8 times a day. She was tiny at birth (5lbs 12oz) so im less worried about overfeeding as she needs to gain, but she tells me when she's full as she'll refuse the formula / only drink half etc. Our HV has been really helpful and we saw the infant feeding team at the hospital for a bit to make sure we were on the right track as well.
