Baby had reaction to something but don't know what

Hi, my 14mo woke up with a reaction to something this morning. It was a blotchy painful rash all the way up her leg and on bum cheek. She hadn't eaten or drank anything yet so I'm ruling out food and drink. There are no puncture marks from a bite etc. I gave her piriton straight away which stopped it getting worse, and took to GP within an hour of spotting it and he was just as confused about the possible cause. I kept her window open last night because it was hot but other than that everything was the same as usual, no change to clothing or washing detergent etc. I'm doing a boil wash of all her bedding at the minute to make sure nothing is lurking in the sheets.

She will not put weight on it. It's subsided a lot thanks to the piriton. Just really confused and a bit anxious because we don't know what caused it, and I'm scared it could happen again but worse.

It was hot to touch, she didn't have a temp or any other concerning symptoms, it was just a bit painful for her. I didn't hear any painful cries during the night, but she was a bit whimpery when she woke up.

Any ideas what it might have been?

The first and second photos you posted looked exactly like my mosquito bites, especially the ones on her tummy. I’m severely allergic to mosquitos (ended up in hospital once), and there’s never a visible bite - just the reaction which only goes away with a prescription pill. It’s white in the center and pink around the edges, skin becomes painful.

But then your most recent photo doesn’t look at all like those, it’s a bit more similar to old mosquito rashes but still…

Worth getting a plug in mosquito repellent for the room she sleeps in?

Hope your little one is feeling better today and that you find the cause soon.

Post viral rash would be my guess. If it's cow's milk it's likely to be round her mouth.

There's just no pattern to it. One dose of piriton and it goes down. These pics were taken at the same time today, just showing how much of her body is covered.
